Beautiful prose, immensely atmospheric and a harrowing story about the cycle of abuse. Truly a masterpiece.

How can I review this beautiful novel faithfully? I love everything about this story. How we only get peaks of the true relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy, and how we readers are left to draw our own conclusions about them. Before I started reading this I thought it might be a bit boring and long winded, however, as soon as I started I realised my foolish, foolish mistake. I was struck by how modern this 169 year-old classic is. It's passionate, intense and brutally soul crushing. A lot of people have voiced their complaints about the 'unlikeable' characters and I could not disagree more with them. I loved Cathy and Heathcliff in spite of all their, almost, unforgivable faults and their fierce tempers. I connected with this book more than any I have ever read before.

I could read this book one thousand times and still want to read it again.

"He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same"

Am I one step closer to completing my resolution of fulfilling my pretentious b*tch energy??

Wuthering heights genuinely surprised me, not only because it took me 100 pages before realising there were 2 Cathy's ...

But also because I actually really enjoyed it. I just loving reading about vile human beings and how self absorbed they are. This book was so melancholic and filled with despair and I just ate it up. Seeing these characters particularly Heathcliff just crumble away with the intensity that their feelings caused was so depressingly beautiful. Although I don't know if it is the norm for people of the 1800s to die of heart break but honestly I aspire to be that melodramatic...

The writing defo took some getting used to (Considering I rarely read classics) and it definitely threw me that the narrator wasn't Heathcliff or Cathy and tbh I still don't know if the family tree is fully ingrained in my brain but aside from that this was kind of gorgeous.

And I Read a classic soo...
