I enjoyed it. I listened to this book on Libby. Its a nice background book while doing other things, easy to follow since its told in a very fairy tale-like narrative.

Incredibly fun and sweet!
page 21: "And the Star Children, as they were called, grew from happy infants to kind adolescents to gracious adults. They were accomplished, generous of spirit, and successful. When they died of old age, they died rich."
eeeeeeeeeh. that's probably when i was like, LAME. RICH?! they died RICH? yea, thanks for making "rich" be something wonderful - i blame shit like this for me wanting to win the lotto whenever i hate my job.
but overall, i found it hard to get into - had to skim read the whole thing in one night, or i would have given up on it.

A really moving story that was reflective on life and love and sorrow and hope. It had me in tears and laughing. It made me really embrace magic in a way books haven't for some time. Magic in the sense of unknown and joy and hope and unexpectedness. No rules, just pure magic. The magic of love and light and hope.
A really, really good book I'd recommend to people of any age or background.

My book club decided to read this book. It was not quite what I was expecting from the summary, but I still enjoyed it.
It has a fairytale-like narrative style which kind of prevents the reader from getting to know any of the characters very well. Despite not being the main character, Antain felt like the most well developed and 3-dimensional character out of all. I really enjoyed his character and story line.
The dragon, Fyrian, was easily the least like-able character. I suspect the author was going for an endearing, but slightly obnoxious child type character. Unfortunately, I never really saw anything endearing about him, so he just came across as completely obnoxious.
Towards the beginning of the book I was having a little bit of trouble figuring out how much time was passing between each chapter. It seemed to jump around quite a bit, but later on in the book it flowed much better.
Despite having a slightly generic fairytale feel to it, I found the overall story to be unique and intriguing. I would recommend the book to late elementary school and middle school age children. The main character, Luna, is around that age for the majority of the book, so I think they will be able to relate to her more easily than I was able to.
