I really enjoyed this book, it’s almost 5 stars!
this is a really light and uplifting book that can remind you of the beauty in the world in such a simple way. I like that it’s written for middle grade readers but is never condescending and is very charming. it kinda of gave me that feeling that I used to get when I would go to the movies as a kid!
I LOVE the characters, I was about to list my favorites but I really love them all for their own personalities. The atmosphere is very whimsical and fun, and the writing is just fantastical enough without being too confusing.
This book deals with darker themes, like death, in a really peaceful way, which I like. it never felt sad, only nostalgic and full of love.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, but especially those who are looking for a light and positive, but still filling, read.

This charming middle grade sorry was exactly what I needed to pull me out of a reading slump. It was so easy and fun to read.
The premises of a young girl bring accidentally fed magic and the consequences of this was very interesting and the found family elements were delightful. The characters were charming and full of life and humor. The wide variety of characters and perspectives also made the plot move quickly and helped keep the book interesting and engaging since the plot is quite simple, though very well executed. I also found the themes around sorrow and memory very interesting, especially when explored in a way suitable for children. I did find the ending a little rushed and underwhelming given the buildup but I really enjoyed reading this book.
