I am just a smidge dissatisfied with this one. This book was massive so I was expecting a lot to happen, especially because the books prior to this one were fantastic but it fell short. This book could’ve been 400 pgs shorter /: the last 100 pgs were very action packed which was awesome, but it wasn’t enough.

Oh my god??? This was SO fun!!!! But it also REALLY hurt me!!!!! I really liked the character development we got from Calen, Dann, and Ella. I don’t want to talk too much about the plot and stuff because this is the third book in a series and it will get kinda spoilery! I did think some of the chapters got a bit repetitive, like the other books, and it kind of made the pacing so a bit slower. I am unsure of how I feel about one of the character arcs, too. I think I am just kind of waiting for more to happen in one of the sections. The ending was literally insane. I am
Probably gonna wait until September when the book 4 audiobook comes out!

All the fantasy tropes you would expect in high fantasy with dragons and reminds me often of the Wheel of Time. This book is not perfect but it hits all the high notes you want when reading authors like John Gwynne and Brandon Sanderson that I am now completely committed to the Bound and the Broken. Cahill does a good job balancing out pacing for a multitude of characters. Despite the 1000+ pages, I rarely felt that a storyline was dragging and not fun to read. I love how the short stories accent the characters in the main novels and Cahill captures perfectly the huge world setting while also keeping it from being too intimidating. This series absolutely deserves to be more read and popular.
