I am still catching up on the Scarpetta's series and this was another good read. I felt it was a little heavy in providing maybe too much backstory for those of us that are avid fans, we probably don't need quite so much recapping. That being said I loved spending more time in Scarpetta's world with Marino, Benton and Lucy. I was pleased there was more crime scene and autopsy in this book than Depraved Heart., it felt more in keeping with the usual Scarpetta books I enjoy reading. The end of this book blew my mind...I am still thinking about it days later! Overall, another enjoyable read in the Scarpetta series. #partriciacornwell #chaos #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #litsy #thestorygraph #bookqueen #bookstagram #amazonaustralia #thriller #kayscarpetta

I'm pretty sure the first 250 pages of this book were just to catch-up anyone who has not read the series. Too, too much! There was very little meat to the story and I feel that this may be the last book I read in this series. We'll see.

It was fun to catch up with Kay and the gang, but I felt like I spent too much time in Kay's head.
Considering that I read this without realizing that it was in the middle of a series probably impacted why I was confused and unsatisfied while reading this book. I felt that it was a simple and fast read for me but I would also get bored easily at certain parts, resulting in rereading paragraphs constantly. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had more background on the book series.

I absolutely LOVE Cornwell and the Scarpetta series, however this wasn't the best in the series. There was a lot of buildup to a fairly fast ending. The book is entirely narrated by Kay Scarpetta and talks about her family and the past and things that anyone who has read the majority of this series would already know. That said, its a GREAT book for someone who is new to Cornwell and the Scarpetta series! It wasn't as big of a page-turner as other Scarpetta novels, but it was still good and a book I will keep on my shelves to read again!
I did feel like I have missed the last book previous to this because there were some major life changes for one of the main characters, but it was explained enough to understand and to be honest, I don't know if it would be in a prior book. I will certainly find out when I see the book I am missing!

Several explosive events and a fair amount of forensic science, but I think I’m done with Dr. Kay Scarpetta and her families, whether connected by blood or otherwise. The boundaries of believability have been breached a bit too often.

I am having a hard time getting past the narrator for this book and the last one. I first started this series after listening to The Bone Bed. The performer was great. And even thought there were different narrators for other books, they still worked. The narrator of Chaos seems too strident. I also find her use of accents gets in the way of the story. It is difficult to rate the writing as I find the narration distracting, but I think I would prefer to read these now ... the audiobooks are not the same quality as the earlier ones.
