I feel like I need to see a therapist to unpack my feelings after reading this book. I am inconsolable.
When I read Anxious People, I couldn't quite connect with Backman's prose & literary style, but boy oh boy was I absolutely blown away by this book. Completely gripping, heartbreaking, emotionally distressing yet beautiful. Peter and Kira and Benji and Maya - I love you. Why am I tearing up writing this review haha. Fredrik Backman has such a beautiful mind and ability to write about this world. I just want to burrito myself in a blanket and cry for days.
"What an uncomfortable, terrible source of shame it is for the world that the victim is so often the one left with the most empathy for others"

Even though there are many characters in the book to keep track of, the author did a great job at making them feel like real human beings. I liked the writing style of switching between the different perspectives. The amount of foreshadowing felt a bit too much sometimes. And some parts were a bit too unrealistic to my taste. But all in all I really liked the book and look forward to part 2.
