I cannot believe this is book 11. I also cannot believe I am only one book away from being caught up in the series and will have to wait after that.

This book in particular, it was one of those books where the concepts whole intriguing were again a little complicated. While reading a lot of the books in this series I don't necessarily understand all the information coming my way but have to prove it together and digest it in the end, a lot like Kaylin herself ends up doing.

I love Elantra and the intricate world she has woven.

Cast in Honor – Michelle Sagara – You know who can’t just investigate a murder? Kaylin Neya! In between all the other chaos that generates around her, she gets to stumble into a glitch in time. Why can’t Arcanists just get over their obsession with getting rid of their names in dramatic and city threatening ways? This one is all about the sacrifices we are willing to make for friendship. And we get to spend time with Ybelline! Happy Reading!

In some respects this book really deserves higher than a 3 star rating. I always enjoy and love reading about Elantra, and am always pulled into the world by Sagara's prose and introspection (Especially in this book where she admits that not a whole lot of time has passed in the series so far). However, in this particular addition to the series I felt a little dissatisfied with certain elements of the story. Perhaps it is a personal preference where I wanted a little bit movement for Kaylin -- personal growth is hard to achieve when you are running from one crisis to another. Also in a series that succeeds often with convoluted plots, I had a little bit more trouble following along with what was actually happened.

All of this, of course, could be a result of the time-travel element which always make things a little tricky.

Wow, such a great book! And so interesting! And things make a lot more sense, reading it a second time, though there were still some bits that were confusing, but still so great! Time was a pretty big part of this book, and yeah, absolutely loved reading this book and how it has the starting threads of the plot of Cast in Flight!

Yeah, this book? Just perfect! Loved it so much, and while reading it on the day that it was uploaded to NetGalley (like I did with Cast in Flame) might not have been the best idea, because now I have the next year long wait for the next book! And it's going to be evil! This book was just so freaking good! Loved it so, so, so much, I was so excited for it, and it totally surpassed what I hoped for!

"good." kaylin did not clap her hands, because she was not four years old. but she had to remind herself of this fact.

"were we to be faced with the same difficulty again, i would make different choices. i cannot, however, undo what was done; it is in the past. the past, of course, is a different country; it is occupied, frequently, by regret, and it is ruled by tyrants who cannot be moved."

"no one else could open their mouth so wide they could fit both feet in, and still have room for leg."

"can he make more sense of it than we can?"
"almost certainly, but regrettably, more sense and enough sense are not the same."

I love this series so much the characters and story line are always so interesting. Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to follow all of the plot points but even so Michelle Sagara is definitely one of my favorite authors. The Chronicles of Elantra series is a must read.

I enjoyed reading the continuing adventures of Kaylin and her world but this is definitely not a good starting point for the series.

It was very interesting to see Kaylin have to deal with, essentially, Kaylin - to see her in positions with Kattea that other people traditionally find themselves in with Kaylin herself. The frustration, even anger, the eventual grudging surrender, all so familiar. Sometimes wittingly, sometimes not. Is this a sign that our Kaylin is growing up? Naah :)

I was completely certain I had already read this for the first two chapters even though all evidence suggested that I hadn't. Time warp??

As always, I read it too fast and immediately want more. The plot is almost secondary to just being able to spend time with the people we've come to know.

Elantra is still reeling from the battle with the Ancestors. Every race lost someone. Seems like they would get a break from the chaos, but they won't. Evanton's Garden is unstable, Nightshade is missing, and there are two new citizens in Elantra. Three murders just happen to take place across the street from them. Coincidence? With Kaylin's luck, probably not. I will say it again, I love this series!!!

Not my favorite in the series, although the end was nice and feel-good.

I understand that Kaylin is slowly becoming a bridge between all the various factions of life on her world but it's taking a long time and I'm pretty tired of the "fall around until you intuit the answer" schtick. Instead of learning court etiquette and doing beat patrols for the hawks she should be spending all her time digging into figuring out what's up with her magics.

And this particular book was a stumbling attempt to discuss time and multiple dimension theory that was often onerous.

As for the shipping, this is book 11 and we're still getting a single sentence or paragraph and that's it. Why bother at all?
