I see why chronologically you should read this one first but if you do not know the world you will not understand this book, sort of.

I'm familiar with Christianity, so to me Aslan is clearly God and Queen Jadis seems to represent Satan. I kind of wish Lewis had not used a woman as the great evil. I think it's curious that the second the characters enter Narnia, the queen suddenly becomes a 'witch'. Why did all the powerful women have to be witches in those days? It just left a bad taste in my mouth. :( 
But besides that, I liked this book!
