2020 - 3 stars - I started it again, forgetting I had already read this Christie novel. I completely forgot who had committed the crime. Towards the end of the novel, I took a guess as to the culprit. Well, I was closer than I was the first time but still wrong. I'm not sure you're supposed to figure it out yourself.
2017 - 3.5 stars - I really enjoyed it but can't decide yet if Poirot novels have re-readability. I thought I had figured out whodunnit but was surprised at the end. I'm wondering if these novels would be fun to read first to find out what happened and then read it again to determine if I should have been able to figure out the murderer.

And thus, I finally finish a Hercule Poirot tale. An engaging account of a mystery which befuddles everyone, from the Main Character, to Mr Poirot, only for it all to come together in the most astonishing of fashions in the end, with a massive reveal just before curtains close.
A quick read, despite the 300 odd pages in my copy, the story was slow and ponderous in places, but one could forgive it as a product of its times. Dialogue heavy, instead of being descriptive where 'show' could've been better than 'tell'.
Yet, despite my nitpicking, the Three Act Tragedy, I must confess that the story was an engaging one, and it appears I have done myself a disservice by not having read Agatha Christie's works before. Time to remedy that fault.
A firm 4/5 from me for this one.
