Not really fond of this one. Poirot was hardly in it. Also, didn't believe the ending.

No doubt a good Agatha Christie novel. Couldn't figure it out who the killer and I was suprised. I really was.

My problem with the book was the lack of... Herculae Poirot. More than half the book has no Poirot in it. The "play" is set by three other characters. Mr Satterthwaite, Sir Charles Cartwright and the lovely Egg.

This book doesn't lack characters with their own motifs but several of them are quite bland with no interest.

Spoiler It was a gush of fresh air to see who the murderer was. Who have thought that Sir Charles would be doing the murderer... even if out of love. But murdering his wife and one of the best friend? No love is greater than that. It remind me of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

One of Agatha’s more entertaining stories! I actually found myself laughing a few times while reading. I loved the idea of an actor trying to solve a mystery, and found myself constantly guessing about the mystery throughout. The scene with Charles and the pen was great.

Now for the mystery itself, I’m proud that I solved a good part of it. I was pretty sure that Babbington’s death was just a red herring for Stange’s, and I was right about that. I was suspicious of Charles and Egg, but remembered Agatha’s fatal flaw when writing mysteries: she always ends with a romance. I say fatal flaw but I love it haha. So I figured either Milray/Charles, egg/Charles, or egg/Oliver would end up together. Once we learned that Charles’ last name started with an M, I figured it was him. However, I did not see the actor being Ellis part coming at all. I figured he had an accomplice for the crime. So that was a fun twist! Overall, like I said, I had a lot of with this one.

Poirot didn't truly show up until halfway through and I got a little bored without him

Eh. The final reveal was clever, the actual how of the murder. But everything else was boring as shit, and Poirot barely a cameo.
