Action Packed with a sprinkle of Fun

LOVED the ending. The literal ending. Felt very 80’s horror movie, where I anticipated some super twist that didn’t happen. Which, made me laugh even harder at the cheese factor.

Anyway! Great story telling. There was always SOMETHING happening. Give a page or two of build up or plot development then BOOM a battle, or a death, or some crazy wth just happened moment.

No, the story isn’t wrapped up in a cute little bow by the end (I’m geeked for book two) but it’s also not a cliff hanger.

I adore all the characters, even the evil ones, the *itchy ones, the comedic relief/crazy cousin. It’s gold. Loved it.

“You have some explaining to do, Laurent.”

This was a quick paced urban fantasy that kept me on my toes. Savannah Caine learns the secrets about her family in a whirlwind week while also finding out her life is in danger. She is torn between her family and the only person she thinks can protect her, Jaxson Laurent.

The dynamic between Jaxson and Savannah is tense and explosive from the beginning and this book has left me dying to know what happens! This was the perfect quick read to get me over my reading slump!

I highly recommend picking up this book if you are in the mood for something quick paced and fun! Veronica Douglas nailed it!

Great book… but a Glock 19 doesn’t have a traditional safety. It’s got a trigger safety so there’s nothing to actually turn on or off. So Jaxson sounds like an idiot telling Savannah to put the safety on.

First book of the series, well written. Quite engaging, lots of mystery and plot, was not the typical overused pnr plot. Added next book to my tbr list when it’s released. I liked this book much better than her previous series.

I largely enjoyed this, but thought it was a little unfocused; depending on the back and forwards between Sav and Jax to carry the tension. But I just felt a little whip-lashed between their supposed attraction and overt dislike of one another. I didn't particularly feel their chemistry. But I liked them both. I liked how independent Sav was and how willing she was to go out on her own. And I liked that Jax was legitimately trying to protect his people and Sav, even if he wanted to strangle her too. I also thought Casey was hilarious and appreciated the abundance of strong female pack members, especially since jealousy over male attention wasn't included as a plot device.

The book is set in a world created and opened by another author, Linsey Hall apparently. I suppose that makes this a spin-off of a sort and you feel it. Certainly, the death of Jax's sister felt like it is the plot of another book somewhere. I don't know if it is, mind you, but it feels like it is. The book is perfectly readable though, just kind of has that spin-off feel.

I found the villain easy to guess and the mystery around Sav is fairly obvious, even if we're not technically told what it is here in this book. Plus, there's some annoying repetition in the writing, All in all though, I had fun and will happily read another book in the Magic Side: Wolf Bound series.

Wolf Marked started out so so great, but Savannah turned out to be such a dummy. I also wasn't a fan of Jaxson and how controlling and inflexible he was. Aaaand I guessed the twists :/
