This book was just alright to me. I liked the story but nothing really stuck out to me as very memorable.

I found this book hilarious and couldn't put it down.

Despite being a generation older than the protagonist and her friends, I empathized with their online-dating exploits.

Recommend even if you aren't generally a fan of what used to be called "chick lit."

As always, Dolly Alderton is clever & masterful at capturing the experience of being human.

ve been Max. I was just Max.
In chapter 9 when Lola says that getting the I love you was like winning a game
Once I felt that boy really liked me, I was interested

But in a way boy was also like Max in that he was a lovebomber
But I was also the one who was floating ideas about activities to do in the future

The Angelo part was predictable but enjoyable

Ghosts is a new age chick lit about friendship, family, and love.

First of all, the cover is pretty. And Nina's friends were enjoyable to read, especially Lola.

On the other hand, Nina is dislikable. She acts as if she is the epitomy of feminism, all high and mighty, judging everyone else who doesn't seem to share her views. And no one calls her out for it! Even when she is a really bad friend, even when she keeps fighting with her mother. And yes, she has flaws, but she is written in a way as to appear to be flawless, as if everyone else is wrong and she is right, even when she makes that huge red flagged mistake with Max.

I now trully believe that if Nina was more likable and more relatable, and if the book had a main plot rather than a team of half backed sub plots, the book would have been enjoyable. The writing is enjoyable and the pop culture refrences were a nice addition.
