Good, fun inspiring audiobook, like a lot of these books though it got overwhelming with the amount of information

I love the idea of using games to get through the tough times and to get stronger, happier, braver in general. This book was interesting and well written. The ideas seem like they would be easy to implement and like they would be very effective.

Buying copies for everyone I know.

If you have kids who enjoy videogames, you should read this book. Heck, I think everyone should read it, anyway! It's got so many useful ways of changing our mindset, I ordered my own copy. It's a keeper.

I've previously been skeptical about gamification enthusiasm, but McGonigal swayed my thinking significantly (along with helping me ensure that playing video games with my kids can be beneficial relationally and in character development!). Lots to consider and apply from her research and suggestions.

Interesting read, combining game theory with some of the latest self improvement books, research, etc. Have to confess though at some level felt like the push for games was a hair over the top, though I appreciated the authors enthusiasm. I think that might be my own personal bias - I believe gamification and games themselves can be great tools (though not a panacea), and this book helped in giving me more ways to apply those tools.
informative lighthearted slow-paced

This book and the science behind it is so interesting and I’m excited to start playing!! I love how customized it can be for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

This is my favorite kind of personal development book. Concrete action steps, backed by science. And FUN! Possibly one of my favorite books of the year.

Really hard to get through. If you're already a happy person you don't need most of the tips in this book (which become increasingly more redundant) backed up by studies that are just common sense (84% of people feel happier after laughing). If you're depressed, you'd never be able to summon the energy to read through 400 pages of this book or motivate to do most of these exercises. Perhaps this book is for people just feeling generally meh.
