Very charming and endearing.

I read (listened) to this as part of the 2017 #MMDChallenge (fun): "A book in a genre you usually avoid"

This is one of the better feel good books I've read... Some of these situations in this book are hilarious!

I originally wanted to read this book because I was provided an early release of the second book, and I wanted to read them in order. Don Tillman is a genetics scientist who has a slightly less average approach to life. While he identifies that some of his less than social skills and strong reasoning skills can be considered on the Autism side, no clear diagnosis is given. He comes up with a list of attributes he wants in a wife in the form of a detailed questionnaire, with such meticulous detail. Rosie is looking to find her biological father since the man who raised her was seen as lacking. Don decides to help Rosie even though she is not a suitable candidate for his "Wife Project". Don's inability to be sensitive to others, and blurting out what is on his mind, gets him in plenty of trouble. Though while brutally honest, and logical to a fault he is quite an endearing character.

I willingly admit that i find reading romance novels entirely uninteresting. I honestly cannot work up a shit load of enthusiam reading sometimes over 200 pages for people who in most cases can solve their problem by just laying their cards on the table.

If romance genre isn't your strong suit i would recommend this novel based on the fact that issues got resolved fairly quickly and the Don Tillman's character was actually quite engaging.
I was going to go into negatives but meh...Basically its heart warming story, two people find each other against all odds and live happily ever after.

Reading this book after the year it was published is definitely an experience. It's very much a product of its time and was jarring to read now. Did the main character really have to note the weight of every person he encountered? nope, it was very annoying. It was fun at times but for a romance, it's not one that I would want to insert myself into because Don just changes his appearance, his routine, his preferences, all for Rosie. So, yeah...

Entertaining. I liked the beginning of the book more than the end. I felt it started getting more serious towards the last third. I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, but I still enjoyed most of this book because Don is a cool character.

 Quirky, Funny, Enjoyable.

I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

I will admit it took longer than necessary for me to realise it was set in Australia.  Then I realised I have only read a handful of books set in Australia. I certainly found the book to be funny in parts. I could never really see what Don was going to end up doing next.

Overall it was a 3 star read for me. Unfortunately I felt the ending was a little rushed but I hope they expand on it a little bit more in the next book in the series.
