I have to say. Not my favorite SL book, I have read so many but this just fell flat for me.. it was fun at times and down right meh at others.
Just not the book for me I guess. I have loved almost all of her others I have read though, so maybe it’s just one off.
The illustrations as always were phenomenal.
“How much I enjoy having a bossy partner is a separate question. Sometimes I can handle it. Sometimes I’d like to punch him in the teeth. Cooler heads prevail… for now.”
“When I’m with Atlas, moods pass between us as easily as smiles. We’re like two skiers carving the same mountain, swooping together and apart, symmetry in our lines. Lorne is like a chemistry set of unknown ingredients. I never know what my reaction will cause in him.”

Wow, this town of Grimstone is just full of dark secrets and creepy people. This book is a gothic thriller romance. I was constantly on the edge of my seat just waiting for something to happen. The author really knows how to intertwine romance with thriller.
This story is about Elena, a mail order bride from Ukraine. Thriller author Lorne brings her to the states in order for them to marry. He also has a little girl who doesn't speak and he may not be who he seems. They are staying at the Monarch hotel, which is owned by Atlas. If you read book one you will know that he is Dane's brother. Elena and Atlas have an instant connection and he becomes her watcher and protector. Creepy things keep happening to Elena, along with a weird/unhinged fiance, an unusual 9 year old, a hag of a nanny and many other odd characters in this town.
I really think people who love thrillers and suspense will love this because, yes, it is a romance book per say, but that is intertwined with the eerie happenings. Great book!

Easy, mostly likeable story. Most plot lines were answered but done quickly at the end. It was a suspenseful romance lite. Enjoyable read but not super heavy on substance.
