I love that whenever i read a Sophie Lark book, the scenes play out in my head like a movie. the beautiful illustrations helped me better envision the characters and scenes, placing me right in the eerie Grimstone town, which was such a fun reading experience. the book was shorter. it was a page turner and easily devoured, i finished it in two sittings. overall, it was entertaining with dark, spooky romantic suspense. perfect read for spooky season!

This book was a trip.
It is an emotional trip.
You go from not trusting anything because you know it’s a dark romance, to falling in love with the FMC and the daughter.
This book is great, it gives murder mystery vibes.
It keeps you on your toes the whole time.
Highly recommended!

3.5 rounded up!

I defly enjoyed this but I felt like it dragged a little bit for me. At one point I just wanted to hurry up and know what was going on lol and it didn’t really get like that until closer to the end. It was my first read coming out of a bit of a life slump so many I can attest it to that. I think I enjoyed Grimstone a lot more than this one but it’s still enjoyable. Sophie Lark is still an auto-buy author for me.

One gripe that I have is when “God” is not capitalized in books. Maybe that’s my own personal religious beliefs but I just feel like if you’re going to incorporate God’s name in a story, it should at least be capitalized. Regardless of what context it’s being used in.. I just personally feel like it should be capitalized. But that’s all!

It took me a minute to get into this book because I was confused because the description has a different name for Elena’s fiancé than the book has…. Once I got over that I found the book pretty captivating. I am absolutely obsessed with Atlas!! The way he took care of not only Elena, but Ivy as well… swoon! I wish there would have been more details about what Ivy’s previous trauma was to maybe understand her situation a little better than I did, and more scenes with Atlas and Elena showing the way their relationship grew, and maybe some more insight to what Atlas figured out with the books, but ultimately I loved this story! I think I enjoyed this one better than Grimstone honestly.
