It took me a minute to get into this book because I was confused because the description has a different name for Elena’s fiancé than the book has…. Once I got over that I found the book pretty captivating. I am absolutely obsessed with Atlas!! The way he took care of not only Elena, but Ivy as well… swoon! I wish there would have been more details about what Ivy’s previous trauma was to maybe understand her situation a little better than I did, and more scenes with Atlas and Elena showing the way their relationship grew, and maybe some more insight to what Atlas figured out with the books, but ultimately I loved this story! I think I enjoyed this one better than Grimstone honestly.

A perfect book for spooky season.

Elena needs to escape her life, and when she meets a man willing to move her to the US as his bride, she can't pass up what seems like a great opportunity. But soon after she arrives, she realizes that nothing with her new fiancé is as it seems.

Lorne is in a word, gross. He's very fixated on Elena's virtue, and other than his obvious fascination with murder it's all we really get from him the entire book. He's an awful father, a terrible fiancé and all in all, a vile human being. I'm so glad that he got what he deserved in the end.

Elena, however, was actually super sweet, and I adored her and Atlas. Without Lorne's existence, they would've actually had such a sweet and normal relationship. They fell for each other almost instantly, and I loved all their little stolen moments and how they bonded over ensuring Ivy's safety.

The ending was a little obvious but with a book wherein our villian is a thriller author with dead eyes and a castle teeming with secret passageways, what more could you expect than a brief kidnapping, thwarted by her prince charming.

I will say, I'm very happy that Ivy was not left behind. I found myself very stressed when I thought about Elena leaving her or something happening to her, so I'm glad she was included in Atlas and Elena's happily ever after.

I loved this book as much as Grimstone up until the end—it felt very rushed and I would’ve liked more anxiety and anticipation lol
One of my favorite parts of this book was the relationship between Elena and Ivy

Tension was definitely there but the ending seemed rushed and breezed over important facts in Elena’s life but overall written well
