This was a really good book. After reading grimstone, I was curious about the brothers story and it didn’t disappoint.

A bit disappointing after Grimstone

Grimstone kept me hooked, the spice, the tension, the plot twists, the characters. But I found Monaco a little disappointing. It was quite a slow burn and quite predictable. I did enjoy the story line and I would love my own Atlas, but it lacked a bit of depth. The action started in the last 20% but ended up being an anti climax. I did enjoy it and it kept me interested but it just fell a bit flat.

I love the vibe of the Grimstone universe. I enjoy how Sophie Lark writes suspense and romance while making the reader feel eerie. The whole feel of the setting was so enticing. I enjoyed Monarch, but I like the first one in the series, Grimstone, more. The pacing of Monarch felt a little rushed towards the end.

The slow burn and found family in this??? Perfection!
I want to keep this review as vague as possible because I don't want to give anything away about what happens in this book. Just know that it's a dark romantic suspense with a swoonworthy mmc and a fmc coming into her own.

The spooky vibes are vibing and the setting is amazing. I really had a great time with it!

I honestly want a novella for Lorne's character – there's so much there to dive into and really get to the "why" of it all. So let this be my formal petition for Sophie to grant us a twisted novella..

And the ending was SO good. As a person who loves the pain of it all, I wouldn't have minded if the ending would have been dragged out a bit more. But for someone who's starting out with darker books – this is a great way to get into it because it's not overly dark or spicy. Definitely a book for your spooky tbr!

Thank you to Sophie Lark and Hambright PR for the gifted arc.

Out of options and against her better judgment, Elena attends a meet and greet for mail-order brides. She can’t believe her luck when she meets Lorne, a sweet single father and bestselling novelist from the States. Like a knight in shining armor, Lorne sweeps her off her feet and far away from her looming problems in the Ukraine. When she arrives, she’s surprised to find out that he and his daughter have been living at a hotel until their house is finished being built. And that’s where she meets tall, dark, and brooding Atlas, the owner of the Monarch hotel. The more her feelings toward Atlas grows, the more sinister her husband-to-be becomes.

This romantic thriller is as dark and chilling as it is hot and spicy. And although it’s the second book in a series, it could easily be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed it.

Both books in the Grimstone series are available for free with #KindleUnlimited.

Thank you, @Sophie_Lark_Author and @Hambright_PR for my gifted copy.
