3 stars may be pushing it, but it's close enough. I definitely should't have read these back-to-back since there's not quite enough depth for that, but it was entertaining enough. (Also, "Die Hard-style Christmas" is wildly false advertising!!! That didn't affect my rating, but NO.)

The smut is deeper than the feels somehow, which is probably my biggest complaint, but I think that's the price you pay for having MCs with super fucked up backstories. You can't really lean into their insecurities/feels without leaning into the dark, which is not what this series is about. And I wouldn't be reading it if it was, so...

A perfect action-filled romp

Well this is just a rollicking good time Madigan and Azrael have little remorse, unless it comes to each other, so whilst the morality is dubious, the action is packed and there are quite a few mirthful moments.
The tension is superbly balanced; these authors are not newbies at keeping you on the edge of your seat and it shows. It's double edged tension, coming from both the intensity of the connection between Madi and Az, as well as from the situation they are involved in.
You should probably read Bad Habits first, unless you're okay reading a series out of order, in which case, proceed.
