Well, fine. I guess I'll just find another author who rips me to shreds in the best possible way. It's Sarah, guys. I let her rip my heart out during this book and I liked it. Let's see if I can put all of my love into words...
Darby Andrews is such a sweetheart but I love that she grew so much during this story. It took getting away from her family, but over the summer 10 years ago (yes, this is a dual timeline book and it worked so well) she found her way to her true self from time away from her family and with the help of Leo Graham, the heathen to her honeysuckle. It was amazing to watch Darby come out of her shell and learn to accept the thoughts and feelings she thought she couldn't have. She worked on herself so much during this story and it's amazing watching such strong character growth in a story. I can't tell you how much I loved watching her become the Darby we all knew she could be.
Leo Graham?! Excuse me, Sarah, but how dare you with this perfect man?? Leo was so accepting and loving throughout this story and I couldn't get enough of him. He had some trauma from his past and even though it made things hard for him, he still wanted to spend his summer (and the rest of his life, honestly) making sure that Darby could be who he knew she could be deep down. He helped her let her hair down over the summer and I loved seeing it because he never pushed her more than she could take, but he always wanted to make sure Darby was leaving her comfort zone and becoming a stronger and freer person. He worked on himself, too, with Darby's help, but he always tried to protect her and help her learn more about herself. I just loved him so much and I can't even deal with it.
I often related to Darby and Leo because they had, for lack of better terms, daddy issues. I won't get into my life because no one cares, but I relate to them on that level a lot. But, they both did their best to work through those issues and get past them throughout the story. It took Darby some time and work, but she eventually worked her way through them and learned to be who she was and stand up for what she wanted in life. I love that Leo always supported her in that, but he was willing to support her no matter what she wanted; more importantly, I appreciate that Leo always asked Darby what she wanted. Darby didn't have many people in her corner during this story, but once Leo came into her life, she found that he was in her corner and wanted to make sure she had what she needed and wanted in life. It was amazing to watch and I loved everything about Darby and Leo's relationship throughout this story.
I loved this story so much and I know this review was completely incoherent, but I don't think I'd be me if it wasn't. The point is that I'm officially obsessed with Sarah and will be reading all of her books now. I loved Darby and Leo so much and they definitely left a mark on my life. I'm sad this book is over, but I can't wait to see what happens in the next one!

A whirlwind romance when they were 17 ended with Darby leaving without a word and Leo broken hearted. 10 years later she is set to marry a man she does not love, only for Leo to show up and offer her the chance to runaway from her wedding and back into his arms.
This book… man this book. It is very character driven with a huge focus on the character’s emotions. I am not the biggest fan of Second Chance Romance but I would reread this story in a heart beat. The dual timelines were done so well, with a flowery YA feeling to the past timelines while the current timeline retained a more mature atmosphere. I was sucked in from page one.
I could not put this book down and it ended up making me cry, my emotions so invested in these character’s stories.

This was one of the better romance books I’ve read for a long time! The Then and Now dual timeline together with dual POV really painted the story to something deeper than what I usually feel romances are
It’s the past and we meet Leo & Darby as teens in California; Darby is visiting from Kansas. They’re drawn to each other, they both have demons, they talk about them, they work through it, and they of course fall in love. He becomes her first everything

Really enjoyed this! I love a good old angsty second chance romance
4.25 stars.
Apparently this book has ''I've always been yours.'' and ''What letters?'' and it's a second chance romance? *swoons*
I can't say if I will be able to finish this book in one day, but I will try my best. *fingers crossed*

I don’t know what happened or how, but Goodreads deleted my original review.
This is my favorite book ever and everyone needs to read it immediately. Save a wave, ride a surfer…. Or whatever Heathen says. Love love love
