After reading Sarah’s first book, The Soulmate Theory, I knew this book was gonna be 5 stars before I even signed up to read the ARC. The words are captivating. The storytelling unmatched. Heart wrenching but at the same time Sarah was able to put it back together perfectly. It goes without saying that she is now an auto-buy author for me!

This is my first Sarah A. Bailey romance novel, and it was very sweet like honey.

Darby Andrews is an innocent good girl until she meets Leo Graham. Leo teaches her his heathen ways to let go of her straight-edged ways. One night, Darby runs away from her perfect life and returns to her parent-pleasing life. She ultimately is handed to another man. Her only hope is that her one true love from a decade ago will rescue her.

My favorite parts of the story were the flashbacks because they made me understand the history of Leo and Darby, but also, the setting of their love story, the oceanside, made me feel comfortable and at peace. The runaway-bride trope isn’t my favorite, but Sarah made it make so much sense, thus making the story likable. I hated Darby's dad and how he saw her as a piece of chess to give away. I didn’t hate Jackson like the readers are intended to, but I sure was happy to see Leo whisk Darby away. My criticism is how easily Honeysuckle and Heathen fell back into line with years lost. That is the appeal of the book, but I would’ve wanted more groveling. But I guess it is to show how both of them never forgot the impact of one another. I also wanted Elena to make an appearance again at the end of the book. Overall, I had a good time.

4.5 This is exactly the kind of second chance romance that I love.

Darby and Leo meet when they’re 17 and have a whirlwind summer romance. They are unfortunately ripped apart and don’t reconnect for ten years… when Darby is about to marry another man.

There are so many things they have to overcome and work through. Letters, secrets, toxic family members, grief.
I loved the way the chapters alternated between the two timelines and the way everything was woven together.
The road trip and the pacific coast beach vibes make it a great summer read.

Very much soulmates, it’s always been you type of love. The things Leo would say to Darby were so beautiful. Sarah A. Bailey’s writing is so poetic and lovely to read.

I am very much looking forward to the next two books and diving into this author's backlog.

First and foremost I want to thank Sarah A. Bailey for sending me an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I love and appreciate it so much.

This was my first Sarah Bailey book ever. It was absolutely wonderful to experience this book. It was a roller coaster of emotions and I love when books can make me feel five million different emotions in one sitting.

I'm not normally a second chance romance girly, but Heathen and Honeysuckle was one of the exceptions. The then and now chapters really show that no matter how hard you try, sometimes true love never goes away. It's raw, real, and worth fighting for even if everyone around you says not to.

After spending a summer whirlwind of a romance together with all the plans to be together forever, a family emergency happens and while Darby has every good intention, they end up spending 10 years apart. And Leo shows up… on her wedding day. He once again, come through for her when no one else does and saves her from making a mistake she'll regret.

Turns I didn’t see coming, spice that was IMMACULATE, and emotions that had me sobbing into my pillow, I’ll never be the same. I loved this book so much.
