Loved the dual POV, really helped with the yearning and passion. Great banter between Elowen & Cayden. Loved the found family aspect, and lots of new characters adding to the mix. The “I love you” scene was perfect!
Enjoyed the new magical elements coming into play.
Great battle scenes, enjoyed seeing the dragons in action. That ending, where are going next!!!
But, it felt like there was so much world building all at once, so many different aspects that it felt messy and confusing. Also, sometimes both MCs got a little monologue-y, a bit repetitive. Which, yes, speaks to the yearning, but it was a bit much sometimes.
Her dad’s death felt anticlimactic, this is what the 2 books were leading too and it was over so fast and moved on quickly to another problem. Was expecting more from that.

Ugh because it was terrible. No drama, no interest, no momentum, no real conflict. Resolving the love interest in the first book was a mistake because this book had nothing to keep me invested

I wanted to love this so badly, especially because the fanart is criminally good, but alas… I simply did not care until about 90% of the way through. It felt so slow and the characters were just so mid. Like, I truly did not care.
It also seemed like the vibe was “the gorier the better,” but not in a way that worked for me. And listen, I love a jealous, overprotective, possessive man as much as the next girly, but here it was ALMOST too much, which feels criminal to say because I LOVED Cayden in book 1. It got to the point where I was dreading picking this back up, and honestly, I should’ve just DNF’d.
The cliffhanger is diabolical and almost makes me want to continue the series, but I’m not sure if I will. Shoutout though to the duet narration on the audiobook, it was fantastic!
