The dance becomes an affair, which becomes a marriage, which becomes a murder. In 1985, Dolores “Lore” Rivera marries Andres Russo, even though she's already married to Fabian Rivera . Lore splits her time between two families until the truth is revealed & one husband is arrested for murdering the other. In 2017 true crime writer Cassie Bowman is determined to uncover the truth even though it could threaten to derail Lore’s now quiet life & expose the many secrets both women are hiding.

This is definitely a slow burn but it was still a great read! The characters in this story are what kept me turning the pages! Their back stories are interesting & they are broken & flawed which gives them a realistic feel. It's a thought provoking read that would be great for a buddy read or book club that likes historical fiction with domestic drama and suspense!

DNF 15%. The premised had me intrigued and I mostly liked what I was reading, but there were just so many details I didn’t care about and side stories I wasn’t interested in. After reading many reviews that said this book was good but too long I decided I did not want to read it at this time. Maybe I’ll discover it again in the future.

This book had an interesting premise once I got past my intense dislike of the two main characters and their self-centered choices. Even though they appeared to be thinking of others in parts of the story- i just couldn't like either one of them.

I would rate this 3-1/2 stars. It was too long. I thought the writing was good & the story intriguing. I liked the setting in South Texas. I will read this author’s next book.

Lore, through happenstance and desire to escape her self given role as mother and wife, falls in love with Andres and marries him. Problem is, she’s already married to Fabian and has twin boys Mateo and Gabriel. The story of Lores double life and Andre’s murder is brought back to life decades after by Cassie Bowman, a struggling true crime writer. Cassie is engaged to Duke, but is leading a double life of her own as she has not shared with him the truth of her Past.  Which is that she grew up in a family with an alcoholic and abusive father. She’s also hiding the fact that she left that family to save herself, leaving her younger brother behind. Cassie wants to explore what would make a woman and mother risk everything like Lorde did. While digging into the “why” she soon discovers that the “how” and the “who” surrounding the killing of Andres by Fabian is a question She also needs to ask. This is an amazing family drama story that really digs into the heart and struggles of many women and mothers. While not all mothers would deal with the demands the same way that Lore has. I’m sure that many of us have felt similarly trapped in the personas we have created for ourselves.

This was an interesting domestic thriller about a true crime case in which a woman named Lore Rivera leads a double life being married to two men at the same time in different cities, which results in one of them being murdered. Cassie Bowman is the true crime blogger that happens upon this case and wants to write a book from Lore's point of view. It could be her big break. But as she delves deeper into Lore's story, she realizes all is not what it seems. Very well-written.
