This is a story inside a story. True crime author Cassie Bowman is seeking stories for her blog when she comes across an article about Lore Rivera. The gist of the article is simple, Lore was married to two men at the same time, and one man killed the other.

Cassie is stunned. A female bigamist? A murder? What a great story! Absolutely fascinated, Cassie needs to know more and more and more. So she goes on a quest to find Lore and learn what actually happened.

Told in alternating chapters that take us from past to present we eventually learn the whole story at the same time that Cassie does. The author takes us on a wild journey with red herring galore that ultimately climaxes with a twist that I didn't see coming. The book could have used some judicious editing, it was a little long, and repetitive. However, the underlying story was beautifully told and the author did a great job with characterizations because all of the characters were beautifully human.

This book had such an interesting premise with so much potential but it just never got there.

Too much flip flopping between Cassie’s life and Loris. Honestly didn’t care about Cassie and couldn’t engage with her story. Also it was obvious from the start that she was not particularly likeable and that most of her relationships were superficial.

Predictable. Let’s just say I figured out what happened on very early in the book so having to wait while Cassie figured it out was excruciating.

The book was pretty boring, which for such an interesting plot is kind of a feat in itself. Too much preamble, not enough substance.

Yes, as many have said it was a bit of a slow burn, but a great read IMO.  The characters in this story are what kept me turning the pages!. Their back stories are interesting. Such as in life they are broken and flawed which gives them a realistic feel. A woman with two families. She is living a lie, until one husband kills the other, or does he?!?
I was left wanting more, another epilogue? I don’t know another book about Cassie? Just more.
I loved the Spanish sprinkled through out as well. It was fun getting to know the characters and it almost felt like I was inside the book. This book is thought provoking  and will have you questioning your morality and how far you would go to protect your love, your life, and most importantly, yourself. 100% would recommend
