This was an action packed finale! Read my full review here: http://cbabblings.blogspot.com/2015/03/of-neptune-by-anna-banks.html
If you’re curious about what kind of quality you will get from this book, imagine a book written by an eleven-year-old.
I struggled to finish this one so much. I don’t understand the target demographic for this - the age range just seems off. I feel like it needs to be for 8-year-olds and yet the want of “more” in a relationship means it's just not...
The story feels like it should be written as a suspense novel and yet the suspense is not there. Things are happening more out of utter confusion than actual planning or because someone has ulterior motives or goals.
That being said, I read the audiobook and Rebecca Gibel did amazing on this one - her emphasis through these books was felt and I really felt like she grew as a reader throughout these books.
I don't think I will ever read another book by Anna Banks.

I seriously do no understand why this book needed to be written. It's already established Emma and Galen are "true-loves" so to throw unnecessary wrenches in their relationship just seems like nothing more than a useless–and very stupid–plot device.
Also, I don't know what happened to Emma in this book, but she was way weaker and dumber than I remember her ever being in the first two books. My advice to any people thinking about reading this book would to be just skip it and act like Of Triton is where the series ended.

Anna Banks tried to turn this book around from her absolute failure with #2, I think. It still was average, and not really that good, however. The storyline itself was okay, it just fell really short. It built the entire time, and then just ended so abruptly. We now know nothing of what is to come out of the entire point to Of Neptune. A poor oversight by her and her publishers and editors.
So it just ends all of a sudden and goes into an epilogue "one year later." Which, after 3 books the epilogue itself was nothing to sneeze at, it was quite boring, and quite frankly, pretty lame. My remembrance of the first book was that there were a lot of issues with it but overall it was a nice piece of fluff. The next two were poor additions, however. Not impressed.

AFTER READING:
4.5 stars
This book gave me anxiety for about 95% of it. I was screaming bloody murder for everyone AND EVERYTHING.

Third book?
Well a girl can never have too much Galen. :P

*Edit* Ohmigod, I messed up the order of VA books in my head!!! It's not Spirit Bound, it's Last Sacrifice...
It’s finally over, this funny, annoying, flawed, yet ultimately engaging series.
After Rachel’s death at the end of the second book, Galen and Emma take some time away from the ocean to work through all of their feelings. But they end up in this town Neptune which is basically the small town fromSpirit Bound Last Sacrifice, but with mermaids. Yes: there are full blooded Syrena and half-breeds living together, and the “problem” of this book is that Galen and Emma have to get their opinions about half-bloods and about ocean living straight.
I was obviously rooting them on the whole time, and through the middle part where they’re seperated I wanted to scream when one of them started doubting the other. But I was annoyed at parts when they got to blaming themselves for being the “worst partner ever” because it’s literally so obvious to everyone else that they’re so in love. I still think Galen is way too possessive, though he has toned down the violence from book one so that’s progress at least! There’s a bit in this book where this other half-blooded guy really has a thing for Emma, and Emma obviously isn’t returning any of his affections and he still tries to convince her to leave Galen. That, I thought, was totally unnecessary, especially because we’re supposed to like Reed in the end!
The drama in this book was pretty good, though the switching perspectives got very annoying very quickly. Though it does give the reader a more omniscient view and there was a moment near the end where that knowledge made me cringe so hard when Galen knew something and Emma didn’t. Really, the parts where Emma and Galen are together are the best - mostly because they’re the least frustrating to read through. Not that I’m really complaining, I think I read this book mostly just to finish the series.
Though this final book lacks the funniness from the first book, it made up in being 10 times more scary and dramatic, and it was all done pretty realistically. I’ll say it again, but I still think that mermaids could be used so much more in YA books. Yes, there’s the problem that they require water, but the way that it was set up throughout this whole series was very nice. By the end of this book, I think I have a really good grasp of the Syrena history, their traits, and their abilities. That’s effective world building to me.

If you love this series then my review is not for you.... I read book one and it was okay...but I didn't love it
Read book 2 and I REALLY didn't like it.
but I was already almost done with the series and so I decided to go ahead and read it with a friend.
I didn't like not spending the last book with all the characters I've gotten to know. At least 3/4 of this book are spent meeting and greeting a whole new group of people.
And I didn't think the drama that was added was needed. It seemed like a plot driver and not an actual necessity. I mean, I knew what her choice would be.....
all in all, I'm glad I finished the series. but I'm also glad I'm done.
