Of Neptune

3.56 AVERAGE

The first book is still my favourite! But I finally got the character development I was hoping for!! Plus this book was just SO. INTENSE. Which was awesome.

The reason for not five stars is Emma's constant blushing, and kind of immature way of speaking that just didn't mesh well with me.

I lost interest early on, but finished out of a sense of obligation to complete a series.

Emma and Galen's relationship is the basis for book 3 of this trilogy. They are still in love with each other until they arrive in Neptune. This is where the story turns weird and a love triangle forms in this book. It happened so fast that Reed instantly wanted to be with Emma. Emma was strong in this book. I liked her in this book more so than any other book in this trilogy.
Galen was a jealous idiot in this book. Mostly because of Reed.. but I don't really know why. Reed was an average character to me. The love triangle ruined it for me it was just to much. If you are going to throw this in then book one would have been a good place. Before arriving in Neptune they where hot and heavy then go from that to a jealous rage was just to much for me. Galen felt to insecure with what he has with Emma and Reed felt to over confident that he thinks he is going to get what he wants. This is just crappy combination to me.

4 Stars!

The story in the this 3rd book is the best story out of the series and is a perfect ending. The action in this book is entertaining and moves the story along quite nicely. There were some twists in the book that I didn't see coming, but it worked well. It was a great read.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF.

Why did you have to put a jealousy plot in my perfectly nice mermaid story? It's ruined now.

I thought this one was going to be my least favourite since it seemed like the plot was headed toward relationship drama, but then it takes a crazy turn and keeps you flipping pages till the end!

Again I feel so much more could have been explored/better explained, but took a back seat to the romance.
Don't get me wrong, I love Galen and Emma, and they certainly get the ending they deserve!

I'm sad to say that I think this book isn't as good as the first two. And I'm genuinely sad because this series has been so much fun. This book just didn't live up to the first two.

There were four things that irritated me in a significant way (and thus lowered the rating of this book). Here it goes...

1. Toraf and Rayna are barely in this book! They've been so important in the last two that I was thrown off when I didn't see them until very very very late in this one. The story really only picked up for me when they FINALLY showed up. The direction this book went in wouldn't have worked if they were more present though... Emma and Galen wouldn't have gotten wrapped up in all that nonsense if Toraf and Rayna had been there to whack them in the head when they were being stupid...

2. There is a problem that's very important in the first few pages of this book but then it's never resolved and barely mentioned again.
SpoilerEveryone is going off about Galen not dealing with Rachel's death, and he's so obviously traumatized by this but it's NEVER resolved. It's just sort of left behind and I HATED it. *makes angry noises*

3. Fucking Reed... I couldn't stand him and every time he made an appearance I thought about putting the book down. I think some people really liked him, and maybe I would have as well if he had just fucking respected that Emma and Galen were together... They were obviously not going to be broken up in the final installment and Reed's shameless flirting got on my nerves so much that I wanted to chuck this book across the room. Fucking Reed...

4. The stakes aren't really raised that much. In book two, they're fighting to stay in power over the kingdoms and arguing about Emma's right to live. Now we have two psychopaths in a town of Half-Breeds. I just found it so obvious that neither Emma or Galen was going to die that I wasn't swept up in some page-flipping frenzy.

I'm still conflicted on this rating, especially when I start to write out my thoughts... I had a decent time reading this, despite all the stuff I just listed, and these books are always pretty fast reads. That's just the way they're written.

I liked Galen in this book. His P.O.V. was always more interesting to me than Emma's (mainly because he wasn't around Reed as much) and I felt for him, I really did. Galen is pretty much the only thing that made this book not suck.

Since I gave the last two books four stars, I'm going to settle for three for this one. For now... *sigh*

2.5* This book seemed a bit unnecessary. It was an okay read, it just didn't really feel like it added much to the first two books. Most of the original characters were absent in this one, and while I did enjoy seeing Galen and Emma actually start to think about their relationship and their future, it was irritating that OF COURSE A LOVE TRIANGLE WAS INTRODUCED. And I thought I'd finally found a YA fantasy without one. And then the ending was rushed, and just tried to tie everything up all nicely.

I really enjoyed this trilogy. As I go and read other reviews I see so many low stars (1-2 star review) and I honestly do not understand it. I loved the characters Emma, Galen, Toraf, Reed, Rayna etc. The story was good to me, I really enjoyed it. Oh well if you think this series sounds interesting I would read it regardless of the lower ratings to form your own opinion. It was a great read!!
