When I just finished this I was thinking that maybe it could have ended with 'Of Triton' but now that the ending has started to settle in my mind, it was perfect.
I may have cried at the epilogue... but I mean, it was really the perfect way to finish off Emma and Galen's story. It's so hard to end a series, we can either end up with another Allegiant(which I liked, but, meh) or we can have a great ending that stays with you for a while(I'm talking about you Clockwork Princess!)
When I finished Of Poseidon I KNEW I needed the next book, same thing happened when I finished Of Triton...
Basically, I loved this so much, and Anna Banks is my queen of sass. I originally wanted this series because of a quote I saw here on Goodreads, and I just knew that I would love Emma.

As you can tell from the rating, I was disappointed in this book. I went into it expecting something at least good, if not great because I really enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy, but that did not happen with this one.

The first three quarters of the book I didn't really like, mainly because of that damn love triangle (which had no place in the book, its very existence bothered me) and the way those people involved in said love triangle acted. Emma was the most annoying of them all, then Reed and securing the last place is Galen (for a short period of time though).

Emma, Emma, Emma... she was whiny in Of Triton, but I believed she had every right to be, but now... she really got on my nerves. Not just the whining, but also the overthinking (especially in regard to Galen and what he said during the fight and his actions, but she did not overthink or even think when it came to Reed). And don't get me started on Emma and Reed... Apparently, he has a very thick skull because he doesn't want/can't understand that Emma and Galen are a couple and he flirts with her 90% of the time, even in front of Galen. And little miss Half-Breed does very little to discourage him. After Galen leaves after a fight he has with Emma, this is what happens every time:
- Reed: "Let's go out so you can meet the citizens of Neptune and we can hold hands and go in very small spaces where you have to stay very close to me and people think we are together because, let's be honest, when you are not in your hotel room, you are always with me."
- Emma: "I can't hold hands with you. I'm with Galen."
- Reed: "But Galen left you here alone."
- Emma: "Okay, let's go."
So, yeah I wanted to smack Emma. Repeatedly.

Galen, on the other hand, annoyed me in the beginning. I really wanted to shake some sense into him when he did not say what he truly wanted during the big fight he had with Emma and let's not forget about him running off after that. But I could not stay mad at him considering what he goes through after. Even though his chapters weren't exactly full of happiness and I just wanted to hug him all the time, I enjoyed them more than Emma's chapters.

The last third of the book I enjoyed more, mainly because that love triangle nonsense finally ended, but not too much. Even the epilogue wasn't satisfying for me (we have yet another moment when Emma doesn't seem to know Galen at all).

Overall, I really liked and would recommend the first two books of the trilogy, but I am sad to say that the last one was a disappointment for me.
These were the first mermaid (yes, Galen, mermaid :)) ) books I read, but they will certainly not be the last.

Was this book enjoyable? In parts. Was this book necessary? Nope. I could have been happy with the ending of the 2nd book in this trilogy. I felt as if this third novel was just excessive and tried way too hard to be a mystery novel in a world of fantasy. In addition to the lack of continuity with the other books in this series, the fact that most of the characters were not together throughout the book or even in the book at all (sad face for the total lack of Toraf and Rayna in this installment) made put on my crazy question face. Like why? Why not continue to develop the world you started? Or the character relationships? Why invent a whole new place? I just didn't get it and didn't enjoy it at all.

Final Recommendations: if you like underwater fantasy that never even dips a toe in, if you like strange, nonsensical mystery, and you know mermaids and such

¿A qué me refiero?
Saludos, Danna.

DNF!!! I just can't go on with this! The writing is grating on my nerves! Whyyyy~~~

Extremely predictable and overall kind of blah.

“Emma, I will love you with every breath in my body and beyond my own death. I swear to be your shield, your protector, your worshipper. There is nothing I will deny you. I am yours.”

A great conclusion to a fun series!

To be honest, I was surprised when I heard there was going to be a third book in this series. Personally I thought book two had wrapped up the series fairly well. Boy was I mistaken. This book wrapped up any remaining plot holes from the first two books, and gave the readers the ending they've been wishing for.

After the death of Rachel in Of Triton, Galen has been having a rough time. He and Emma agree that some time away from everyone, just the two of them would be the best for a while. Before they both leave on their trip, Emma is given a cryptic suggestion from her grandfather for the two of them to head toward the mountains of Tennessee. There, they find a whole community of Syrena and humans living together in peace, including other half-breeds.

The discovery of the town of Neptune has Galen and Emma at odds with each other, Emma has finally found a place where there are others like her, and Galen sees a community breaking the law. Angst and drama ensues.

I really liked the beginning of this book, it started off very strong, but somewhere around the middle of the book it faded out for me and continued that way. I thought it was strange that pretty much right away Emma and Galen started fighting and not seeing eye to eye, because by the third book, these two should really be on the same page and not be indulging in angsty teen drama (even though I secretly loved it).

The ending was way too quick, it went from build up to --> everyone's good and happy now in 2.5 seconds. So closure was not exactly perfect, but congrats to the author on an enjoyable teen series. I will be recommending this to teen patrons at work in the future.

I've mentioned this in previous reviews (on other sites) that I don't really understand why the author switches her point of views between first and third person. Is there any real reason why Emma is first person and Galen is third? Because I found it to be unnecessary and distracting.

Honestly, this series is a guilty pleasure read for me, as it does a good job at dealing out angst.

And as I always say, 3 stars means I liked it/enjoyed it. I just didn't love this/wouldn't reread it.

This book turned out to be so much better than I had first thought. The fact that it had so many things that I never would have thought of is amazing. I loved how you ended it. I'm a huge fan of The Syrena Legacy and this was a wonderful ending. AND FOR THAT YOU GET 5 STARS!!!

Popsugar 2015 Reading Challenge | Task 34: A book with a love triangle (I grant you there isn't much of one and the book isn't great, but it's there and I am desperately trying to finish this challenge before Dec. 31).

Oh. My. Goodness!!! This is just the best series! I loved book 1, book 2 was great, but book 3 is by far my favorite! :-) I love it! :-)
I turned the last page and closed the cover with the girliest sigh escaping from my lips. Everyone deserves their happily ever after! :-)
