Why has no one ever shown me this book before? It rocks. Maurice Sendak is my hero.

Pierre has an attitude and he just doesn’t care. Nothing, no one can make him care, not even a lion. Pierre does learn a lesson and adjusts his attitude, but it’s not the easiest way to do so.

This is a book 1/4 the size of a normal book - pocket size. It’s very cute with Maurice’s artwork and style. It’s short and sweet for a beginning reader.

The kids loved this. They laughed and giggled when Pierre was eaten. They wanted it read again. The nephew gave this 5 stars and the niece gave it 3 stars.

One of my childhood books that I keep telling myself I need to share with my kids. Any time they say "I don't care" I think of this story. Must read to them soon!

This was my son's favorite picture book of them all. We had the accompanying VHS tape that featured Carol King singing the words to the book, and my son would laugh and laugh and laugh (ages 4-7). We'd walk around the house singing the words , sometimes the whole thing from beginning to end, and sometimes a snippet at an appropriate time, like when I'd wake him up in the morning singing, "Good morning, darling boy; you are my only joy" and he'd groggily sing back, "I don't care!" Or I'd authentically need to ask him what he'd want for dinner and I'd sing, "What would you like to eat?" and he'd of course sing back, "I don't care" "Some lovely cream of wheat?" "I don't care" And we'd giggle. Sweet nostalgia.

We watched it and read it too much, but now when I see the cover or think of the tune, my eyes burn and my throat constricts. I miss this.

This could just be my nostalgia speaking, but I remember reading this book again and again from the time I was five until I was at most ten years old. That reason alone is why I'm giving it five stars

I should try and find it again...

Buku kedua Sendak yang kubaca setelah [b:Where the Wild Things Are|19543|Where the Wild Things Are|Maurice Sendak|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1384434560s/19543.jpg|3020535]. Yang ini menceritakan Pierre yang tidak pedulian dan kemudian dimakan singa. Terbit pertama kali pada 1962 dan aku membaca cetakan tahun 1990.
