I thought I would be less infuriated by this, than by other books about sexism*.
I was, but I was still angered by the system.

*eg Invisible Women by Criado Perez
Inferior by Angela Saini
Pain and Prejudice by Gabrielle Jackson

This felt a bit like how some of my high school essays went. Starts great, and then at the end, you are just trying to tie up loose ends.
Would recommend for the first 3/4s

Definitely a book worth reading! I would say that quite a lot of what Marcal writes about seems obvious and will feel like that for many readers, nevertheless, her call for action and inclusion of different perspectives in the way we live, work and value each other is crucial and needed. On top of that, she provides interesting anecdotes and stories that some readers might be familiar with and some that were new to me and would probably also be unheard of for others.

I expected this to be very similar to [b:Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men|41104077|Invisible Women Data Bias in a World Designed for Men|Caroline Criado Pérez|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1617113740l/41104077._SY75_.jpg|64218580] but it was quite different and complementary. Where Invisible Women looks at things that exist and shows how they aren't made for women, Mother of Invention is more about the gaps - the things that are missing because the feminine is viewed as less valuable. As always, preaching to the converted and a little depressing, but very interesting.
