A finale to The Age of Madness that doesn’t feel like a finale at all. One peeve is when a standalone book feels like world building for sequel books.

That’s what this felt like, but supposedly for the end of a trilogy.

Felt like more attention could have been drawn to other characters. Some of the “twist” in the end felt heavy handed.

I liked the fight scenes we got, the characters are always lovable, but just like with the original trilogy, the plot lines just fall a little flat. Though I do think he tried harder to connect and make the plot more relevant this time around.

It seems that he plans to write more in this universe, and I’ll def be there to read it. Gotta always have characters you love to hate.

Somewhere between 4.75/5 and 5/5.

Truth is, Abercrombie has become one of my favorite authors ever after reading his entire series, starting with the first law trilogy, the stand alones, and now AoM.

It is all just so well written, each book and trilogy becoming better and better.

This particular book left me with such a wide range of emotions.

Despair its all over... happiness for some characters, sadness for others

And, even after 9 straight books, read back to back... secretly wanting just a little more.

Abercrombie, you're brilliant. The end.

SpoilerWhen I told you I don't trust Joe with my characters it's because I've been burned before, and now again! Hate it here.

I prefer The Trouble with Peace ending more. Sooo gonna forget The Wisdom of Crowds. In the beginning, I thought that Savine, Orso, and Stour were gonna be my comfort characters. They felt familiar, I would be in their circles 100%. Feel as entitled, and probably conquer the world too...then they took a turn for the GenZ and they lost me. Maybe bc I think we're more mature and they proved me wrong...oop.

Anyway, we had a good run. Loved our time together. I wish them the best. I'm still not a steampunk fan. And although this was Joe and Adua, and Glokta was there, and Jezel was there, and Bayaz was there...this doesn't make the cut into my faves list. The Age of Madness was nice. It was everything it needed to be for what it was.

Okayyyyy you got me. It's amazing. Sensational. Wow! What an ending. I'm bitter. Let me be bitter.
SpoilerI'm upset about Orso. He grew! He became a better man and I was looking forward to his kingdom.

Fucking hell, Abercrombie, you did it again. But did you have to break my heart in the process?? Can't wait for what's coming next.

I love that, so far, every trilogy serves not to RESOLVE conflict but to shuffle the characters around on the board in a way that will eventually create MORE conflict. love it
