This was so good! I've been excited for it ever since Kayla floated the idea past those of us in her Facebook group and it did not disappoint. Alex is about to turn 30 and goes to her parents' lake house for a weekend before trying to get her life back in order after a broken engagement months earlier. Elijah is her dad's friend and employee, 15 years older than her, who her dad sends for a weekend away at the house not knowing his daughter ris there. Instant attraction, wanting the same things out of life, and an agreement to let themselves have the weekend together. It's super spicy with kink, and it's the best kind of novella in that it feels like a totally rounded story--Kayla is great at those and I think this might be my fave so far! I'm excited to read it again when the audiobook is released because the narrators are excellent!

This is heavy on the spice, low on the plot but it was the right amount of perfect!
Alex and Elijah end up in the same lake house thinking they would have a weekend getaway alone to have a break from life. Surprise when Elijah walked in to the house with Alex cooking in nothing but an apron. From there things escalate pretty quickly between them and they get sooooo hot and heavy ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฅต
Despite it being short and heavy on the spice there was still feelings involved and it was sweet at times. If you are looking for a hot quick read, make sure to grab this when it comes out!!

I will never not be SO grateful to the random TikTok I saw a few years ago that introduced me to Kayla's books! She is able to strike such a great balance of heart and care for characters with the funnest time you'll ever have reading a spicy novella!
A question: who else also makes the drink at the beginning of the book?? Because it's a MUST at this point. I started doing it with the Brother Puckers series and I'm hooked now! They're so yummy and absolutely elevate my reading experience exponentially. The playlists are another really great add-in, too.
