It’s hard for me to rate this as I prefer fantasy and other genres. I felt like the characters were well written but I probably would have given up on the book if I wasn’t reading it cause my coworkers kept talking about it. The last chapter made it worth the read but otherwise a mediocre book in my opinion.

The book is very inspiring, like it is for the every women who is suffering with their husband or anyone. This book is about women Power and what women can do, if they are determined. Every women should be brave like lily and Every men should be like atlas in my opinion. I highly recommend to read this. Loved it so much!

das ist lein drittes colleen hoover buch, und das erste was mir gefällt. however, this. is. NOT. a. romance. book. das hier ist mehr ein horror thriller als alles andere.

es macht mich absolut stutzig, wie irgendjemand dieses buch lesen kann und es als romanze kategorisiert. ich habe mir schon viele reviews von leuten zu diesem buch angesehen, welche es nicht so toll fanden, und wusste daher schon, auf was ich mich einstellen muss. keine romanze. das ist ein buch pber häusliche gewalt. colleen bescheint es im nachwort selbst als das. stop calling it anything else.

ich habs auf deutsch gelesen, deshalb kann ich zu der original prosa nix sagen. auf deutsch fand ich es sehr angenehm und leicht zu verstehen. da ich einige stellen auf englisch schon kenne, ist mir aufgefallen, dass sie teilweise geändert wurden. worte wurden teils anders übersetzt, was es besser gemacht hat imo.

meiner meinung nach wurde zu sehr mit ryle symathisiert und sein verhalten zu sehr entschuldigt. als könnte er da gar nix für. ich verstehe, dass es nicht nur schwarz und weiß gibt, aber in dieser situation gibt es ganz klar einen täter und ein opfer, und das wurde nicht genug betont.

den narrativen sinn von den ganzen sex scenen hab ich auch nicht verstanden. ich verstehe, dass es ein wichtiger faktor in ihrer beziehung war, aber manchmal war da ohne wirklichen grund eine semi-explizite sex szene, die sich aber doch nicht so ganz getraut hat das zu sein. idk. war random.

das am ende mit atlas war ein bisschen random. also, man wusste dass es noch kommt, aber es wurde einfach nur in den epilog gequetscht und hat sich nicht earned angefühlt.

ich mochte, dass es so fast paced war. ich fand die zeitsprünge gut.

edit: excuse me, aber ich muss das rating im nachhinein noch mal verändern. auch wenn die gewalt als negativ dargestellt wird, passiert es doch viel zu wenig. von anfang an verhält sich ryle asozial und übergriffig und hört nicht auf ein „nein“. außerdem komme ich immernoch nicht auf die szene klar, in der

ryle lily auf der party ins schlafzimmer trägt, sie schreit dass er die runter lassen soll, und alle, sogar ihr freund, belächeln das nur und lassen es einfach zu?? literally dystopian. oh, und die nummer mit dem bild ist ne fucking „you“ season one deleted scene, und da scheint NIEMAND im buch an irgendnem punkt ein problem mit zu haben.

I enjoyed reading it and finished it quickly but, despite the author's best efforts to not to, the whole book romanticises abusive relationships. It's a dangerous book to read without applying a fistful of salt.
