It was okay, I knew it would end like it would but an easyish read. Maybe I’m just not a Colleen fan.
Will be a great film but the book just didn’t do it for me.

If I could give a book 0 stars I would. I have never hated a book so much. The fact that this book justifies and romanticizes abuse through the majority of the book just to flip the switch at the last minute is terrible. The fact that this is advertised as a romance book is truly tragic, abuse isn’t romantic. I’m honestly shocked by its popularity because this is such a toxic book.

Gave it a one star. Ryle should have had extensive counseling and parenting classes before being left alone with Emerson. Abuse isn’t cute and it isn’t entertainment, and it absolutely shouldn’t be ignored when infants are involved.

I loved this book, it’s the first one in YEARS to reduce me to sobbing! It’s heart wrenchingly well written despite the horrendous topic. It’s sad and beautiful and I know I’ll think about this book for a long time.
PLEASE check trigger warnings - this is not a romance

Naked truth? I hated this book.

It is the epitome of overhyped quasi "romance" books. It's not even about romance, it's about abuse. And you'd think that since the author wrote it based on her own experience, that the subject would be presented well, right? WRONG. Honestly, this feels like some second-rate Wattpad fanfiction. And the thing with Ellen? Cringe encapsulated.

Save yourself the time and go read something else. Literally ANYTHING else. I haven't hated any book this much since reading Moby Dick at uni. Sigh.

The story of Lily and how she was brought up by an Abusive father which she swears will never happen to her. She meets Ryle, a neurosurgeon who she falls for and marries. She soon realizes he has a temper of his own and hits her. When Ryle "gets upset" with Lily it's usually over Atlas, Lily's first love that she hasn't seen in years but ends up eating at his restaurant one night.
