I am not normally a non fiction person, but did really enjoy this book. I literally laughed out loud multiple times. Thanks for being so vulnerable Rachel! I identified with a lot of the feelings and worries that Rachel has and especially being a theatre kid this book really resonated with me.
I'm not sure how interesting this book would be to someone who isn't familiar with Rachel Bloom, but as a fan of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book provides great insight into how Rachel's unique personality influenced the show's creation, and some of struggles she had as a "not-normal" person definitely resonated with me.

I loved this book SO MUCH. Laughing out loud most of the way, crying for some. I love Rachel bloom and crazy ex girlfriend so so much and this made me love and appreciate them so much more. This is going to be a book I want to reread.

I don't often write real reviews, and I don't really consider this a real review. But I have to say, as someone who really likes Rachel Bloom, this book feels half-baked and chaotic. I think that's in part the genre of "memoirs that aren't really memoirs by funny people" where there's that pressure to use a bunch of comedic devices (whether funny or not) to show off the comedic flair of the author and let their natural sense of play come through. But because there's so much vulnerability and realness (getting bullied, mental illness) in Bloom's story, I think this book would have worked better as a proper memoir -- and not rushed, which this book feels like it is.
I know publishers often bank on the big names earning out their advances, and I'm sure this is no exception. But I don't think this book really lets Rachel Bloom shine. I think it needs more editing, more structure, more sense of someone who has spent a lot of time working through pain (which I believe Bloom has done, and has done well in her work with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). I felt like I was reading snippets of interviews strung together with a few essays strung together with Harry Potter fanfiction (ok I liked that in the book).
This is no way diminishes my love of Rachel Bloom. I just could have done without the book and still had everything I needed to know about her, at least the way the book is currently written.

A very funny, clever, sweet read (listen via audiobook read and sung by her, recommend.)
Short, sweet, made me giggle, good politics and just the right blend of goofy and honest. Everything you could want from a celebrity memoir, tbh.
