3 stars generally but 4.5 stars for the Harry Potter related insights (“the actors in the Harry Potter movie series are not the actual characters. They are actors playing the characters in the Harry Potter books who I will meet somebody”), rant re JKR’s trans-phobia, and HP fan fiction.

Lots of fun! Exceeded my expectations for this genre. Very relatable and funny, especially the amusement park chapter. The chapter about dealing with Standards and Practices for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was also really interesting.

I love this book. Being a weird kid, and having OCD, and so much more of what she describes - hearing Rachel Bloom's stories make me feel a lot less strange and self-conscious and alone, which is why this essay collection is firmly on my comfort books shelf.

Hilarious, poignant, relatable and just a damn great listen. The audio book was AMAZING because you get the singing. I'll take that over not seeing the pictures.
Must read.

If you liked the show Crazy Ex Girlfriend, you'll enjoy this book. A peek into the mind of Rachel Bloom that at any point in the story may make you laugh, cry, or re-evaluate what normal means to you in your daily life. She's very frank about her struggles with mental-health and being bullied and forgiving her bullies. If you think it sounds heavy, well it is, but it's also hysterical. At one point while sitting alone in an empty office, I laughed out loud.

The twist of this book is you after she goes on and on about how to deal with bullies in middle schools. That led to The Crazy Ex Girlfriend. She finally after her birth of a child and the pandemic, she finally decides it’s OK to not be “normal”.
If this wasn’t written by a celeb, it wouldn’t pass go.

Super silly and enjoyable
