It feels a bit ‘racism 101’ but as someone who has been in an interracial relationship with a partner that didn’t stand up against micro aggressions, it made me feel palpable emotions.

I love this book. It speaks truth about the hideous ways racism can hide in relationships. As someone who has been in interracial relationships in the past, it’s something I’m always a bit cautious about. I love that this book shows how harmful and painful racism can be; it’s very raw and honest. And I love how Farai stands up for herself too. More power to you, girl!

A short but very poignant and relevant story about the difficulties of being in an interracial relationship, and how people don't understand that racism is in all of the small acts too not just in big overt acts.

A short, but reflective and emotional read about some of the uglier risks that interracial couples face when it comes to being accepted and respected as individuals on either side of the family. A very vibrant and comforting art style accompanies this emotional story, which I like.
Moderate: Racism and Religious bigotry
Minor: Emotional abuse

The conversations in this graphic novel are so accurate. I was so angry with Adam and his family, and I was proud of Farai, though it was definitely not entirely on her to stand up for what’s right.
