It used to feel like knowing things should make them less scary, but now she wasn’t so sure.
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.
Accept and move on, no grudges or resentments held.
It was probably easier to be nice when the other person was worse off than you.
You can’t always get what you want.
Treat your money with respect and it will grow for you.
You don’t have to be mean to be successful.
Monsters beget future monsters.
Money does sometimes motivate people to turn in friends and family.
How is it that 24 hours can feel like such a long time, but also feel like it’s flying by, all at once.
Whatever had people done before the Internet?
Serial killer trilogy: wetting the bed, abusing animals, fire starting.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!
A long and very satisfying read. Not the typical, cliche story you’ve read before. If you want a happy ever after ending with no flaws, don’t read this book.
I never expected the plot twist. The scenes described almost made me feel like i was watching it first hand. Gruesome, eerie and inhumane act. Definitely not what you wish upon anybody.
I am so devastated by what happened in the story. Heart-broken as if it is a true, real story.
I am glad to hear that the sequel will be released soon. Hope to read more sequels in the future.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first Sara Ennis book and OOF! Where do I begin?! This book is just another thriller about a person who was bullied and mistreated by his family as a child... a kidnapper/murderer who does crazy stuff to kids. BUT IT WASNT! Yeah, yeah the story line has happened a million and one times, but this book!!! It is written beautifully. Sentence structures, word choices were so suiting.. this book ran through my brain like silk sliding through my fingertips. It flowed like flowed through my thoughts and mind's eye like the great MISSISSIPPI... deep down "south" into my gut. I was a goner from the start!
Angel and Bud are twins from the poor end of the spectrum. They are growing up in a trailer park in Indiana living by the seat of their pants. Olivia is the daughter of a famous international reporter, growing up in California with everything a child could ever want or need. She is going places.... well was until being snatched up by a psycho with serious dissociated identity issues and a yankering for kidnapping and torturing children in his twisted attempt to "correct" his life. Seven kids in and he is still trying to rid of Felicity! But that is a whole other conversation...
The author did a phenomenal job of developing the characters and their story lines. She dove into my mind, each scene painting a perfect picture peeking my emotions. I could NOT find a good "stopping point". I read late on into the nights and itched for those free minutes in the day to pick back up so eager to see what would unfold next. I cried. There I said it I CRIED... like REAL, chest tight, heart aching tears. This book had me needing this guy to "get it." And the thing is, there were very few what I would call gruesome scenes. It is just written that good. There was no actual need for overly explained gruesome scenes. She gave me JUST ENOUGH and nothing more. My mind could fill in the blanks but I didn't have to think about it. It was automatic.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. GOOD GOOD GOOD
RATING: 5 STARS

Thank you to Book Sirens and Sara Ennis for my ARC of the Dollhouse and am leaving an honest review!
This was 100% a bookstagram made me do it. I have seen this duality all over insta and I am a thriller junkie and knew I needed to give this one a try and I am glad I did. I already can't wait to read the second one!
let's get some triggers out of the way: child abductions, abuse, bullying, child torture, suicide, emotional, mental, and physical abuse
I am a cover reader, and a lot of times I pick up books by just reading the title and looking at the cover, and this one was no different. Then I read the blurb about the book and knew I needed to read it.
You think awe this will be about some creepy dolls, like Anabelle type dolls, killing or haunting people, but boy is than a total inaccurate thought. This was humans being used as a grow man's dolls living in a real life "dollhouse" and man was creepy and disturbing. I got so many saw vibes. It was like a real-life escape room with SAW challenges mixed in. The More I read, the more disturbing the book gets, and you think…..uhhhhh what am I reading. As a lover of psychological thrillers, few have made me queasy or plain sickened, but this one did.
Sara Ennis did a wonderful job of world building and drawing the reader into what was happening. I totally didn't expect the twist near the end. I was in a state of illusion just like the "dolls".
This book is told from multiple POV's, and we get inside the heads of all the characters. I know multiple POV books are an acquired taste for some but I love them. I loved that we saw the same situation from each major character, it added such depth to the story and made it more intense.
cant wait to dive into the second one!

Wow this book was intense! It was emotional, suspenseful and disturbing. Definitely not for those with a weak stomach and the child abuse in it was difficult to read but overall it was a crazy story. Need to read a happy book after that but then I'll be back for the next book in this series!

HOW I FELT ABOUT THIS BOOK:
I was not one for thrillers. Yes I found a great author who writes domestic thrillers in Darby Kane and liked her books, but it was not my thing. The owner of our book club Kristin asked if anyone wanted to buddy this book with her, but not only this book but also the second book in this series because the third book was coming out May 1. I never heard of Sara Ennis and I said sure.
Let me tell you I was not disappointed! This book is indeed a page turner! I read this book on every lunch break and regular break at work until I was done! Every chartactor is written very well and you can feel what they are going through. It is definitely a on your edge of your seat thriller! Sometimes it is like a bad train wreck, you know you should not watch but you want to see what happens. As you go on you find yourself asking yourself what if. It is a page turner and will hook you from the beginning to the end. Some of the subject matter will make you uncomfortable, but this is what a great psychological thriler does. Sara Ennis has been added to my favorite authors list!

The Dollhouse is an suspenseful and disturbing thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat.
The Dollhouse is a multiple POV story that centers around a set of twin story follows a set of twins, Angel and Bud, as they are kidnapped from their home. Along with another girl, the twins are forced to endure disturbing recreational of their kidnapper’s childhood memories and tasks that involve severe punishments if they fail. All while time is ticking down on their usefulness and as a result their lives. This lead to to a suspenseful and terrifying atmosphere that constantly had me worrying about the kids’ safety.
The last 80 or so pages contained so much tension and suspense that left me debating on how the kids would escape. Although I guessed some of the minor plot twists, the major one shocked me and left me confused and questioning everything I thought I knew. I’m still not completely sure I understood the twist.
One critique I had was that the book ended a bit abruptly. The end was one of the most suspenseful parts and I felt that it could have lasted a little longer after all the built up to it. Also, I wanted to see more of how the characters were coping after everything that happened.
Overall, The Dollhouse was a thrilling and scary ride from beginning to end and had an ending that left me intrigued for the next book in the series.
