I enjoyed this book but mostly due to my fondness for the netflix adaption. Dare I say I like the TV version better? Nonetheless, it's still an adorable tale that is perfect for the Christmas season.
This was fun fluff, humorous and absorbing in a not-too-believable way. I enjoyed the hell out of the premise - two teenagers form a relationship by passing a notebook full of clues back and forth - and I truly don't believe a better city exists than NYC (this book could LITERALLY have taken place nowhere else but that beautiful city). So yes, Dash was a little unbelievable - a little too cool in that trying-too-hard-to-be-ironic kind of way - and Lily was a annoyingly naive sometimes - but I had fun reading this.

Quick and cute, but I felt like Lily's character was more suited to being 12 rather than 16. Whenever she talked about kissing boys (OR MORE?!) I was like NO YOUNG LADY. NOT YET.

Loved the Netflix series, saw it a while back so not sure if more was added in the book to make it funny.
Not the most relaxing read, but since I knew what would happen it did make it less stimulating.
Bit awkward him feeling up Santa đŸ˜…
She does reflect on some difficult topics such as homelessness, poverty, global warming, cruelty... The dares get less exciting as time goes on.
Lilly gets grounded for going out late.
She drinks too much and starts leaving her good girl behavior behind and then drama occurs as she's drunk and that's how she meets Dash IRL.
I felt like they changed a few things /cut out some parts from the Netflix series.
The cursing was pretty rare. The style was different to the series focusing more on their thinking I suspect but it's been a while since I saw the series
The language is a bit complex for a teen novel but doesn't get in the way of following.
♿Listened to this via TalkBack on Libby app, the change between thoughts of the person , their present time actions and letters isn't always directly stated so it could be a little confusing when listening.
