Major plot lines of Fahrenheit 451 are used for this book. However, compared to other comics, I thought the artwork was a bit disappointing.

I was surprised to find my local library only had this in its catalogue, and not the original. The narrative is suitably simplified in this adaptation, supported well by the illustrations. I can imagine many more of Bradbury's works would suit this kind of presentation.

A fantastic graphic novel adaptation of not only one of my all time favorite books, but one of the most significant books of our time. Tim Hamilton's art is dark and haunting, a perfect match for the subject matter.

I LOVE the original story, but I am not sure how it translated into the comic. I liked the illustration and Hamilton's physical portrayal of Bradbury's world. However, the text did not translate well for me. So much of the book in Montag's inner thoughts, and the comic format made that hard. All and all it is a good introduction to the world of Bradbury, and I like Hamilton's style, but I am going to be so predictable and say it, the original was better.

This definitely rekindled my appreciation of Bradbury's novel!

As an adaptation of the classic novel, this one was beautifully done. The art was not as detailed as I would have liked, but the style suited the piece well enough, and the story as always is a thought-provoking look at the potentials of society.

This was a wonderful adaption of one my favorite novels of all time. The story of Fahrenheit 451 has become an iconic book in terms of the discussion of banned books, and while this is still a relevant topic, the most important aspect of the story is the way it addresses the issue of ignorance. That was an element that wasn't as well represented in this adaption, but it was still good.

In my mind this book is a great companion material to the novel, as well as a jumping point for younger readers. I despise the notion that graphic novels are "juvenile" material in terms of art, but I do agree that graphic adaptions and graphic novels can be a starting point for younger readers. The book that taught me to read was Calvin and Hobbes and comics has always, in my mind, been tired to literacy. Tim Hamilton's book is a great jumping off point for anyone who has never read Fahrenheit 451 but would like to, or would at least like to consider reading it.

While the graphic format of this novel keeps the spirit of the book, it misses so much of the richness in detail that makes the source material so frightening and powerful. Thankfully, although it doesn't add up to what is lost, there is something to be gained from the beautiful muted, gritty palette of the artwork you'll find within. Worth reading but if you've never read the novel, pick that up ASAP.
