i like how comics/graphic novels are more show rather than tell, but in this one i missed the text component and more of the protagonist's thought process. though the art was beautiful, some bubble speeches got me confused at times. still, it was pretty good, and i liked that the author himself helped in some aspects of its development, including the introduction.

So freaking boring. I never read the book, and I'm not sure if it was just that the comic didn't translate well or the book is just as bad. I found the whole thing dumb and implausible. Not that I think burning books would never happen or a society where cultures who get rid of books for purposes of control would never happen (See: Nazi Germany, ISIS), but the way in which this book unfolds just didn't resonate with me. It was very jerky and predictable and I could barely get through it.

Loved this adaptation for plot, pace, and dialog but the art just didn't click with me.
I was going to read the original for book club, but having limited time I decided 20 pages in on the graphic novel instead while my partner read the rest of the book and compared notes with me. This adaptation truly captures the mood of the piece with its art style. The harsh shadows and heavy orange palette communicate the fire that is central to the novel. Bradbury's beautiful prose can be overwhelming in it's quantity in the original, but here the very best pieces are picked out. Often I stopped to think.
