Me gustó pero todo sucedió bastante rápido para mi gusto, demasiado rapido. Eso del insta love en definitiva no va conmigo! Es bastante cortito y se lee en una pasada. El final no me lo esperaba debo admitirlo!

Every once in a while, I really enjoy a historical listen. This novella by Nicole Zoltack slipped in between some of the more angsty, contemporary listens I have had and gave me a real feel good story. The Masquerade ball during the Christmas holiday led us to several characters. Isabelle, maid to Theodosia and Theodosia's betrothed Adrian. There are sparks flying everywhere at this ball, the problem resulting that it's not with the couples that are expected to be in love. With their upcoming nuptials during the holidays, Theodosia and Adrian are set in a quandry...marry as their arranged marriage suggests or go against their parents and marry whom they love. Lots of issues and secrets are released but you will have to read or listen to find out how this first book in the series ends. I loved results and way Nicole was able to capture the times.

Melanie Fraser narrates this book with her regal sounding voice. I love her when she reads historical romance, always giving the book the sound of importance, yet includes the passion and emotions of the characters. This book is a must listen!

Great read

This was a quick, joyful read. I loved this Christmas story. There was just enough romance, and slight mystery to it as I wasn't sure what was going to happen at the end.

This book was captivating from beginning to end from the relationship between Isabelle and Lady Theodosia to the growing love story between Isabells and Lord Adrian Wingrave. I also loved the fact that it was set both at Christmas and in the Regency period.

The descriptions of scenes and Characters that Nicole gave not only made me feel like I was part of the story but that I new the places and characters intimately.

From the moment that Isabelle met Lord Adrian Wingrave at the Masquerade Ball and fell in love with him I felt for her as I have been in a similar situation (although not with some one that wasn't from my class).

When Isabella, a maid, accompanies Lady Theodosia Haywood to a masquerade ball she wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and be there for her Lady, in case she was needed. Little did she would know that she would meet a masked man and be instantly attracted to him.

Lady Theodosia has been promised to a man she has never met, but at the ball she meets a man who she spends much of the evening talking to.

When Viscount Adrian Wingrave arrives to meet Lady Theodosia, the woman he is supposed to marry, he can't stop thinking about the woman he met the night before at the ball. When Isabella recognizes Adrian as the man she met the night before she is scared that he will recognize her too. which he does.

What happens when you love someone but are promised to someone else and there is more at stake than just a marriage. Will the truth come out and hearts prevail or will promises made take precedence?

This novella was great Christmas read!!

This is a very nice and sweet Christmas time regency novella that features a lady’s maid that falls in love with a Lord.
Things I liked:
Isabelle’s relationship with Lady Theodosia, very nice to see a lady hat is not a brat and can be friends with her maid.
Adrian not being a rake, ha admitted to being attracted to Isabelle yet he made the effort to get to know his bethroed and he never asked Isabelle to be his mistress.

Things I didn’t like
Theodosia’s name. There are many beautiful names out there give the poor girl a nice one.
Isabelle’s and Adrian’s insta love, they had one interaction and they just pinned away from each other from afar and suddenly they were in love.
All things considered this is a very short and pleasant read.

Final Rating 2.5

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Masked love follows the story of Isabelle, who is a servant of Lady Theodosia. At her Lady's wish, Isabelle attends a masquerade with her, where she meets Lord Adrian Wingrave. The next day, they find out that the man Theodosia was betrothed to was, in fact, Adrian. Meanwhile, Theodosia is in love with someone else. So here starts the conflict.

I am not really good at reviews, but I can frankly say that this book was good. Not really my type, though. It was kind of historical. The things that I really liked were the fact that Adrian wasn't ashamed of the fact that Isabelle was a maid and that he tried to interact with Theodosia even when she pushed him away. What I didn't really get was the relationship between the couples. It was insta-love. Isabelle meets Adrian at the ball, where they dance and talk with each other. As they are going, Isabelle removes her mask and reveals her face. Thats how he recognizes her the next day. He dosen't even recognize her voice when she is singing. That was the only thing that had me on edge.

Overall, I would like to give this book a rating of 3.5 stars.

I just...this was a (sweet clean) wham bam thank you ma'am romance. All the necessary plot points were hit but with little to no emotion.
