I think it was a good book but I feel like it jumped all over the place. Sometimes it was hard to follow along. I enjoyed reading it and it makes me want to look into the case more.

The writing was a bit rough around the edges, more straight facts than narrative non-fiction, however it was obvious that Brown did thorough background work to present these facts. Ultimately he provided a glimpse into a very fascinating story.

BORING. YAWN. I wrote an in depth review three times and it didn’t save. I’m over it.

I really like true crime podcasts, and have been incorporating more true crime into my reading as well. Although I find the topic important, and exposing the corruption in Jefferson Davis Parish important I unfortunately had a difficult time getting into this book. There were times I felt I was reading a newscast transcript as it often felt like a rambling of facts rather than a story. I think that style might work for some readers so I don’t want to yuck your yum if that’s what you like, but it’s just not my writing style.

This was the first time I had heard about this case. This book was so fucking sad. This small town in Louisiana is suffering under the hands of corrupt cops and a huge drug ring. The fact that all of the murders in this town have gone unsolved and nothing has been done about it just blows my mind. I just found out that Hulu made a 5 part documentary about it and I can't wait to watch it. I hope these cases are solved one day.
