The first third of this book is hard to get through. But once you get to the first twist it really picks up.
I loved how Nellie and Vanessa ended up being the same character. I think the dual (yet singular) POV really illustrated domestic abuse in such an interesting, clever way. I knew the husband was going to be bad news, but seeing it all unfold was eerie. The gaslighting and complexity of character within domestic abuse was done perfectly. Also the very last twist with Emma wasn’t one I saw coming but I liked that it brought everything together.

While the twists were good, the book seemed to drag a bit for a thriller.

I’ve had this book sitting on my bookshelf for more than a year now and finally after all this time I decided to pick it up and read it. Part One of the book was pretty easy to guess what was going on. Part Two I was confused. And Part Three put everything into perspective and when I say everything I mean everything. Overall it was an okay book not as great as the anonymous girl but still good nonetheless.

slow-paced
Soooo slow. Was just waiting for this one to end. A boring domestic thriller with a main character who has a drinking problem. 🙄 Nothing about the reveals was thrilling.
