Much better than the first book! Still some negatives that I felt did drag the story down a bit - which if I wasn't enjoying the series so much, would have made my rating quite a bit lower.
There were some really great character moments in this book with a lot of notable chapters and enjoyable scenes with character building.
However this was meant to originally be a duet and it shows, unfortunately. It has middle book syndrome with many extra scenes of world building which sadly don't really add much for us. It feels like the author picked a storyline which was a bit too big for her to complete smoothly and resorted to a lot of shortcuts in storytelling.
While it's easy to see that these characters are very well crafted with so much love by the author, it really feels like the world is built without as much attention. You really have to rely on suspension of disbelief at times, at least for me in the second half of the book.
I am really very glad that many of my negative points from the first book were relatively quickly resolved or given more context in this one. In the first book, I was not a fan of how hostile Ivy is - I personally understand the choice to make her a fighter, but I honestly cannot say I can look at her and her situation and find it realistic - I am glad she had her character arch into moving away from that with the pack.
I find Valek's motives very lacking and confusing. I get he's a lone wolf hellbent on destroying the system, but for someone who seems to be such a silent observer of those around him... he didn't see Ivy getting comfortable for one second? And then forcing her to go with him when she declined no less than twice. I really don't understand what the plotline was supposed to be here other than a very shortcut way to get the characters into the ending situation. We have another case as we did in the first book where we're given so little context on his motives that I have to look to the next book to see if it's explained WHY he did it in the first place and hope that it is.
it comes as no surprise at all that I really enjoyed Wraith's character progression in this book and I hope we get even more of him in the next one.
My second negative point worth mentioning is the amount of side missions with the guys only. I do like the idea of this, but I feel the way it was executed didn't really add much to the story and just dragged out the time between seeing Ivy's story and the main plot. Of course books do not have to be 100% go go go, but this did slow it down for me and it dragged out the first 30-40% to the point I felt like I had to push through until it got better, which it did after chapter 12.
Overall, as I said, this book would have had a lower rating if I wasn't enjoying it as much as I am.
Objectively, it's probably a 3/5 stars, but because I'm hooked and I'm really enjoying the series to the point I would actually want the physical copies on my shelf, it's a 4/5 for me.

I may have said that Feral Omega was more 3.5 stars, but this installment definitely garners the full 4 stars. Yet, I still have some of the same issues with this second book as I did with the first, even if we do put a little more meat on the bones of who the characters are and get a little more depth in the world. Once again, I find that the characters spend a quantifiable amount of time in their heads and on missions that carry them outside the group or in pairings, making it significantly harder to grasp this "found family" and shared moments of intimacy which is such a fucking shame because when the author gives us those moments, they're fucking delectable. Seriously, virgin Wraith, who wants to be more man than monster, who craves all of Ivy's touches and doesn't understand why she would want to, melted me completely into the floor. Or even if it was to tease both Ivy and Whiskey, seeing Valek taunt Whiskey with teasing touches and husky words... omg, just slay me, okay? Cuddly movie piles, dead and more dead. The glimpses we get of future character setup for the next harem? GRABBY HANDS. I want them all and immediately, please and spanks. But for these things to be sparse and so far in between layers of inner monologue and thinly veiled subterfuge and "missions" made me want to throw mild tantrums because I craved it so much more.
All of that said, I will be waiting with bated breath for Psycho Pack to drop. I need to see how this ragtag team actually becomes a family, and how this feral little omega and her Ghosts finally let down their walls to let that happen. More so, I need to see how they're going to rain down hell on those who have done them wrong and how these "allies" they've made along the way are going to come into play in their lives and potential future books to come.

I LOOOOOOVE WRAITHHHHH
Chapter 13 let’s goooooooo
I was enthralled with book 1, and book 2 is absolutely no exception. There’s so much happening and the story really progresses forward without being boring or sacrificing pacing. There’s more character development for each MMC and the FMC, as well as more spice!
There’s more action and adventure in this than in book 1, and an unexpected twist.
The cliffhanger though
