Book 2 of a duet, continuation of book one, ends up with 6 guys, there is a HEA but some bumps on the road

I literally feel like my heart has just been shredded and glued back together. Ugh Amber what you put them through and us. I'm still reeling as this is the final book to the duet and I can say I'll miss them so much. I'm not to give things away, but just know Penny got off a lil to easy in my eyes hahaha. I can not wait for what's comes next from Amber, whatever it is you can bet I'll be reading it. If you read the 1st book you need to read this and get ready for the wild ride of emotions you'll ve taken on.
dark emotional

This was a hot mess

Okay wow I inhaled this duet of books in two days, it was just that good!!

Part two of the Forever Changed Duet really hit me in the feels. I knew after the cliffy in the first book that this second one would be wicked. There was also that little note saying this second book was steamier and darker than the first, and I have to agree with the darkness aspect. This book hurt a bit to read (emotionally) but the writing style was so goooood. There were moments while I was reading that were so immersive that I couldn't even tell I was reading the book - I was so in the moment and into the book, the words simply carried me away.

Like the first book, the characters are all so genuine and individual. There weren't any moments where I forgot which character was which (sometimes happens with RH and harem-style books). I loved the MM and MM+ aspects that continued to develop along the storyline. It was beautiful to see some character growth from every MC. Our FMC deals with A LOT of heavy shit, but I loved seeing her be selfish and look at the things she wanted to do, just for herself before really jumping into the harem group setting.

The ending though. Damn. Felt a little like that moment you fling yourself off a cliff. Shocked, exhilarating, just waiting for that moment where gravity and normalcy come back. The one thing I wished for was a longer epilogue. After the long and steady buildup over the course of the book, the last couple chapters were like a punch to the gut, and then the epilogue just sort of quickly wraps up the ending. I really wanted to see more of the group interact together and feel that HEA. That epilogue for me was a little abrupt.

Overall, loved the book and the story. Loved the MCs! Loved the dynamics. Loved everything (except the epilogue, but who doesn't want longer epilogues?? I think every reader who gets invested in a story wants the epilogues to just keep going and going!). As with the first book, watch out for the Trigger warnings and the Dark aspect. There are a ton in this duet but if you can read through it, definitively pick this set up!!

Rating and Review

Rating: 3 Stars

WARNING: There are relationships that happen ā€œoutside the harem that may be taken as cheating to some.ā€

There is WAY too much happening in this story. I’m pretty forgiving when it comes to unrealistic storylines, but this exceeded my ability to suspend disbelief.

The author dropped the ball when it came to resolving both the Dolly and Penny conflicts; they were both wrapped up in such abrupt manners that it felt like she just wanted to be done with them.

Continuity continued to be an issue in this book. In the last book Cara implied she was from a middle-class family, ā€œI may not be a millionaire heiress, but I’m not poor either. My clothes are all name brands from the popular stores.ā€ But in this book, Layton reveals that Cara’s father is rich, ā€œHarry is humble as hell and his daughter takes after him, but he's a multi-millionaire.ā€

Time jumps would happen without warning from one paragraph to the next; the formatting didn’t do anything to indicate the change.

The ending…I didn’t know what was happening half the time, it was just pure chaos.

I’m not trying to say this was terrible and that you shouldn’t read it—if that was the case I wouldn’t have been able to finish both books—just be aware of these issues going in so you’re not blindsided. Lovers of angst and drama have much to look forward to in this duet’s conclusion.

After the emotional roller coaster of the first book I was mentally prepared to go into this book and suffer through another rollercoaster of emotions.

The prologue even started to freak me out a bit but I persevered. Much like the first book the author has a way of getting you comfortable before tearing your heart out. And then after she takes it out once, she makes sure to stomp on it for for fun. It was great.

I like that were finally given some explanations for why for the actions of Penny/the mean girl towards our FMC. I feel like her ending was well deserved so I have no complaints about that.

There was a lot to get over after the events in book one and I like that everything wasn’t resolved a week or two later. It took time for them to heal before they were able to reunite and have a happily ever after. Some of the timelines had me a little lost but you’re able to quickly re-orient yourself with some details.

Even though the ending did break my heart a bit I really enjoyed the pain that the author put me through. I was really proud that I actually held the tears in.

I loved watching the evolution of the characters and how they and their relationship changed. It was a hard journey for them and I’m glad the book ended the way that it did. A great conclusion to this duet.

4.5/5

Read this book the minute it was in my hands and I couldn't put it down until it was over!!! There was so much emotion throughout this book: I laughed, cried, even started talking to my device...good thing people were not around to witness my absolute breakdown while reading that ending.

Nicole has become an insta-buy author for me. I will be buying this one because it was so good and that cover is GORGEOUS! I have gobbled up her work and this was no exception. It was such a good paring to Forever Changed. Just about all my wishes for book 2 were answered. I don’t need to say much else. This book was absolutely enthralling!! I’m still thinking about it days later.

GO READ IT; that’s all I have to say.

I will note: it felt like the wrap up to the drama with the twins' father and Penelope was a little much and very quickly done but I was so glad Karma caught up to them it didn't even bother me!!!!

I received a complimentary copy to read and review, these opinions are honest and all mine.

Wow. I’d mark this as more poly instead of RH to be honest. While all the relationships happen between the main characters, there’s quite a few people that have multiple relationships within the group. This also picked up right where the first book left off. It was heartbreaking, but so good.
