I think this would be a 3.5 for me. I was intrigued by the premise of this book from the moment I read a review. The whole "the serial killer isn't on trial...he's on the jury" premise had me hook, line and sinker. If that sounds appealing to you, I would recommend the book. I was excited to read the book and am glad I did. I would say that this followed the same progression a lot of thrillers/mysteries do for me. I was really involved and invested in the lead-up. I loved seeing the planning and being introduced to the characters. I really liked the character of Eddie Flynn. I thought his court room tactics were clever and fun to read about. However, when everything comes to a climax in the last 100 pages or so I just checked out a little. Admittedly, my life doesn't allow for time to sit down and read giant chunks of a book at once and I think I would've liked this more if I could have been immersed for longer instead of being forced by life circumstances to take breaks from the plot for days in-between reads. I am interested in reading the rest of the Eddie Flynn books and have passed this one along to another to read.

Have to stop taking book recs from Tik Tok. Was expecting a fast-paced, dramatic court room thriller, but I was bored throughout 95 percent of the book. The twists and ending ??? Silly

Not something I would necessarily go for, and not a storyline I’ll dabble in again, but I’m glad I read this one. Definitely a thriller. Lots of court jargon, which is too much if you’re not interested in following along with the justice system. Many, many names to keep straight. Unique book that deserves the praise it gets. You can tell than character has an ongoing background storyline that spans multiple books, but it doesn’t take away your ability to enjoy the book by itself.
