This is a very quick read, totally tugged at my heart strings and made me reflect about the meaning of life, which I assume is the whole point. I devoured this book, will be added to a growing collection of Gabrielle Zevin on my shelf.

Weaker than i hoped it would be... you can definitely tell this is a formative work of an author who would grow to be great, but this unfortunately was not. It brought up interesting ideas and questions, but answered them in a way that felt half baked. I fear that even the questions themselves were half baked at times. A very strong case of tell not show. Some parts that were told quickly worked, and some felt glossed over. No time to sit with any emotion didnt make me feel like life is short and "enjoy it while it lasts" (which is what im assuming she was going for), but it rather made me uninterested and confused.
I talked down but this trully was a fine read, i just wish is were more .

Loved the darker commentary in this book.

I love Gabrielle Zevin so much. She has an uncanny ability to tug at my heartstrings, and she does just that with Elsewhere. While this concept of the afterlife would scare me to death (pardon the pun), it made me think about life in a new way, especially when it comes to how people treat those of different ages. It's delicate and deep, tragic and comforting, and it left me with a gentler lens towards the world.

Don't let the YA label of this book deter you. It is anything but juvenile when it comes to the themes it handles, though it's appropriate for just about anyone.

this was my favorite book in middle school and rereading it i can say it’s still great. i love this concept of the afterlife that zevin created and i love her writing style

I've re-read this book more than a few times and every time I do, I like it just as much. Ms. Zevin is a gifted storyteller who crafted a wonderful universe and good, realistic characters. Imagining the afterlife is something that has been done many times before but I really enjoyed her particular take on it. Overall a joy to read.

Another banger by Gabrielle Zevin. Magical realism done oh so right

WOW. I can honestly say I've never read a book quite like this before - what an original concept! I had a hard time putting it down and was crying by the end, but I'm so glad I found this one.
