Intersting ideas and a cute book, but I feel the writing style was for much younger audiences.

Can you say, free library book option? We love a free book in the neighborhood, even if it's not something you'd normally pick up. But this was a good YA read, with an interesting look on the afterlife.

Zevin focuses on the 15 year old afterlife of Liz, dealing with her acceptance and growth even after she's dead. She gets to meet and live with her grandmother as everyone ages backwards, so an intriguing premise. Some parts were a little trite, but not bad overall.

Oh, this is wonderful. Gabrielle Zevin writes such great characters and this broke my heart, made me laugh, and warmed my soul.

Elsewhere is where 15-year old Liz Hall ends up after she dies. On Elsewhere, people age backwards until they are babies again, and then they are sent back to earth to be reborn. I love reading about alternate conceptions of the afterlife - and this was an interesting and cute story to listen to on an 8 hour drive from Nashville to Chicago.

I didn't realize this was a YA novel until I had been reading a bit. It tackles the always interesting topic of what happens to us after we die. There are some mentions of sex, so depending on your pre-teen/teen, you may want to read it first.

Interesting concept — the afterlife is aging backwards / getting younger. Didn’t feel fully drawn in by main character.

This is a delightful upbeat little quick read - surprising that it's upbeat, perhaps, because of the subject matter, being a book about a girl (and a bunch of other people) who have died and what happens to them next in Elsewhere, the place we all go when we finish on this sphere.
Light and easy and amusing, this novel is about making the most of life, and accepting change along the way as it comes. It really is a book about acceptance of change in circumstance and in others, and there is a lot of wisdom in the observations about the changes in humans and their ability to adapt.
Despite the unlikely plot, the characters here are funny and kind and have learned wisdom from their mistakes and experiences on earth, which makes being around them for a few days whilst you read this book a real pleasure.
