Phew, for a quick, cute read this one packed some punches! Both mcs battle some pretty significant insecurities, hers related to weight and his related to his dyslexia, and have difficult familial relationships. I love that although they help one another grow and become more confident, there isn’t the implication that they’re “saving” each other and their love isn’t a magical cure all to years of hurt from other people. April and Marcus are lovely and their romance was a joy to read. The way Dade weaves in the stories of some secondary characters has me eager to read the other books in this series as well!

I've sat on this review for over a week without posting, I kept forgetting about it. To be succinct, I really liked how the author (accurately) portrayed the community and positive aspects of fandom and fanfiction culture. This and how it addresses fatphobia are really interesting, standout features in a romance (from what I've read, at least). It's a bit distant now for me to remember any more salient opinions on the plot, but it was enjoyable! Maybe a little longer than I thought it needed to be, but a good time.

I loved this book and devoured it within 24 hours. I feel like it healed a small part in me, and will resonate with anyone whose ever felt unlovable, especially because of your body.

This book was recommended to me by a friend after i asked for a "happy funny book i can turn my brain off to with minimal angst", and this one knocked it out of the park. I was giggling and kicking my feet from the beginning and genuinely smiling while reading the majority of it.

The characters are deep and well written and i was rooting for both main characters as individuals and as a couple the whole time.

The plot is also rich and portrays complex relationships outside of the main couple, including the importance of supportive communities as well as the different, more nuanced ways parents can hurt their kids, even when they love them.

This might've been a five star read for me, but I didnt love the third act break up. In general i am not a big fan of third act break ups regardless, so take this with a grain of salt. However this one was especially frustrating to me. For one thing, the cause of the break up is obvious from their very first date, and could've been avoided. Plus I dont love how close to the end it all happens, cause it just leaves me with the after taste of how desolate and heartbroken they are. I personally prefer the happily ever after to be a substantial part of the book, not just a few pages post reconciliation.

I LOVED how the spicy scenes were so plain spoken. Authors that use “clit” are my heroes. 🫶🏼 Marcus is so fucking autistic (without it being said) which I liked and appreciated. He is, however, canonically dyslexic. Also an actor. It’s a fun yet endearing twist. April is the best, I love her. From the first chapter she’s headstrong and ready to embrace new challenges for herself. I really enjoyed seeing her change over the course of the book
