This book grips you from the beginning. I initially thought this was a werewolf book however this book was so much more. The relationship developments and inner monologue had me enthralled! This was thoroughly entertaining and a huge surprise. Highly recommend.

I originally wrote this book off for the writing style - it was a little more quirky than I was used to, and I’ve never been a huge fan of swearing outside of dialogue. Just takes me out of it. But I stuck through the first third of the book, and I knew it would be a book I stayed up until 2am finishing (spoiler alert: I did). It was not a perfect book - there were some messages and passages I found clunky

(Jess’s inner monologues were a little much sometimes, but maybe I’m just a bit pretentious)

, but in general I felt the heartwarming moments with the kid taking me by surprise, the existential dread really setting in, the desire, the need to know more, more, more… it was an addicting read and has reignited a real passion for stories again. THAT is a powerful book.
